I think you would be better off on O2's LLU service (if you can still get it) on ADSL2 or even ADSL1, there is no BT DLM hassle with IP profile configuration taking weeks to increase if you get any disconnections on your long line  Grin

I have to say I had no complaints about the O2 service recently, but due to me changing my mobile from O2 to Tmobile, the broadband cost went up from £7.50 to £12.50 per month, so that was the only reason why I decided to move to Plusnet.
I'll give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes. If I understand correctly, I am able to cancel my 12 months contract with in the first 30 days if I want to?

The one thing I like about Madasafish / PN  is the excellent support you get from Bob and his colleagues, in other words the UK based Staff.

Re: Migration O2 to Plusnet, massive speed reduction

Unfortunately it's slowing down already:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 921 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 200-1000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :1504 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1000 Kbps
Uptime: 0 days, 1:05:21
DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 1,504
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 16.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 31.5 / 63.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 16.0 / 10.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ALCB
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 1 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 286 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 2 / 1,503
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 838
I am guessing the IP Profile will drop to 750k in the next few days like before. 😞
Looks like plusnet is not for me, and I should go back to my ADSL2 from O2.
Can anyone confirm that I can cancel easily with in the first 30 days?

Re: Migration O2 to Plusnet, massive speed reduction

Not sure how long you were with O2 before, but you have a long line which can be difficult for ADSL2+ and both Be and O2 have recently started to be cautious about accepting such orders.
The BT DLM system (which certainly has big issues) is designed to deal with line variability in its own unique way; that mechanism does not exist on O2 or Be though you could be subject to more frequent resyncs. It depends what's important to you, but you do have the benefit of having tried it before.

Hi mbailey3,
I'm sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with our broadband. There is a cooling off period after the initial sign up but once your service has gone active you are subject to any charges you have incurred and any deferred contracts you have entered into.

And it's slowed down again:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 684 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 200-1000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :992 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 750 Kbps
Uptime: 1 day, 8:14:43
DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 992
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 15.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 31.5 / 63.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 17.0 / 10.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ALCB
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 12 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 2 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 467 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 84 / 7,011
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 45 / 3,044
I am sorry, but this DLM setup is not working for me at all.
My setup with O2 was perfectly stable and over twice the speed I am getting with Plusnet now.
I'll be calling up customer service in the morning to see what options I have to get my MAC code and transfer back to O2.

Re: Migration O2 to Plusnet, massive speed reduction

Looks like its going to cost me £65 to cancel. (£40 modem cost and then £25 cessation charge)
When I joined plusnet I was charged an initial fee of £29.99 (£25 connection and £4.99 P&P).
So looks like 2 weeks service with plusnet with a speed of less than half the level I received from O2 is going to cost me £94. OK, I have gained a modem, may be I have to look at it as though I have purchased a very expensive £94 modem...
I acknowledge it's not Plusnet's fault, but the damn annoying BT DLM system.
Very annoying, I wish I had stayed with O2 now and not moved in the first place.

Re: Migration O2 to Plusnet, massive speed reduction

make sure if you go back to O2 that it is the LLU one, the other non LLU has similar system to PN
