Migrating from John Lewis BB to Plusnet

Is there an internal migration path for phone and BB from John Lewis BB or would I need to go through the usual MAC process?
Thinking of moving one of my lines over as even with the termination fee I can still save £10 per month.
If the MAC process is required is there likely to be any complication from already being on the Plusnet systems?
Also would it take the quoted 7 days for BB and 2 to 3 weeks for phone line?
Thanks
Gary

Hi there,
Really sorry we're so late in replying. No, there's no need to use a MAC - just give our support team a call and they'll be able to arrange everything for you. It should be sorted quicker than 7 days.

Re: Migrating from John Lewis BB to Plusnet

I did just that two years ago,the move went smoothly.
Best of all I saved a good deal of money.

Re: Migrating from John Lewis BB to Plusnet

Hi.
Just called your sales line to inquire about moving one of my lines over and after putting me on hold for a minute was told I would need to phone John Lewis for a MAC code.
I went through to the  new customers option on the phone menu.
Is there a better number to call or is it something you guys could help out with on here?
Thanks
Gary

Re: Migrating from John Lewis BB to Plusnet

Hi Gary
I've just made an internal migration from Metronet over to Plusnet.
I called the number for existing customers 0800 432 0200 then followed the voice prompts for accounts and billing until I got to 'thinking of leaving'.
The advisor there handled everything for me. Setting up new account etc.
Hope that helps

Ah, thanks. I'll give that a go and post back if I'm still having trouble.

Re: Migrating from John Lewis BB to Plusnet

All in hand now. Thanks for the help. Even get to keep the same user names (Decided to move both accounts over)
Also impressed with the options team member who handled things for me.
Be interesting to see if I notice any difference as I'm moving from all traffic being on Gold and Titanium from what I understand of the JL product.

Re: Migrating from John Lewis BB to Plusnet

Having some trouble with the router config.
It looks like after I go through the wizard to change my user details, TR69 is changing my login name back to @john-lewis.com
I can see in the logs I get my Plusnet static IP and then a minute later it disconnects and reconnects with my old JL IP.
Fortunately that account is still active at the moment !
Reading on the AAISP page for this router it looks like I could delete the .def file if I can find the name of it.
Can you foresee any problem with this and can you let me know the name of the file if you agree this is the way to go?
I was initially using PPPoe so wasn't having this problem. Just wanted to see which way performed better.
My other line is still on PPPoe so connected OK with my plusnet account.
Or am I barking up the wrong tree  Smiley

Re: Migrating from John Lewis BB to Plusnet

Go in to telnet and run this command:
cwmp server config

When I run it I get
ACS url        : https://acs.plus.net:8443/dps/TR069
ACS username  : tr069
ACS password  : ********

If your settings are for Plusnet as above and not JL it may be that they need to update something on their system to change the details associated with your router's serial number.

Re: Migrating from John Lewis BB to Plusnet

Thanks. Won't be able to check until this evening.
I remember the config wizard only gives options for Plusnet  (And MAAF?) though. I imagine it may be exactly the same router and firmware sent out to all customers and as you say config is set at the Plusnet end.
Will see if a member of staff can confirm.
I suppose I could even phone support  Smiley

Re: Migrating from John Lewis BB to Plusnet

As you'd managed to configure the router yourself I was trying to find out how to disable the TR69 - the above was as far as I got.

Re: Migrating from John Lewis BB to Plusnet

Just for info this is the comment I found about TR69 in the TG582N.
No idea if Plusnet configure this in the same way.
