Re: Mid Afternoon Dropouts

Jon,
As an aside, if you go fibre, this could answer your requirements - http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,132258.msg1155307.html#msg1155307

Re: Mid Afternoon Dropouts

Thanks. Had considered that but more likely to get away with neat cat5 socket next to modem than cabling tacked around the house.
As you point out though - its not worth really considering fibre until this *beep* line is sorted!

Re: Mid Afternoon Dropouts

Jon,
Have a look to see if there are any closed tickets from today - they might contain the results of copper tests.  Something has been found to warrant an engineer visit...

Re: Mid Afternoon Dropouts

Jon,
Useful stuff, but nothing to hang a hat on.  Without reference to this thread (unless you've echoed stuff back to the ticket) I am a little surprised that a BTOR request has been made.  The reason at the bottom is the disconnect frequency... the more recent of which has been self elimination of issues.
I am not confident that anything will be found but a check out will be useful.  You are going to have to move that book case... better get the SWMBO work permits raised!
RouterStats monitoring for REIN before the engineer arrives would be useful.  Be sure to grab the line stats before the engineer starts and after he has finished.
@CRT,
What do you think about getting the router's firmware updated please?

Re: Mid Afternoon Dropouts

Do I need full routerstats or will the lite version suffice?

Re: Mid Afternoon Dropouts

Jon,
For the TG582n full is much better and more appropriately customised.  Configure as per this thread http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,128606.msg1122269.html#msg1122269

Re: Mid Afternoon Dropouts

Afternoon folks,
We can most certainly look at getting a firmware update pushed out, I'll get in touch with the Products Team and see if we can get this remotely upgraded this afternoon.
@Phullis Tyne - I'll arrange for this to be done before 17:30 today (if possible) so you may see the router reboot of it's own accord, if this happens it is important to leave the router powered up and allow the update to be applied. It will reconnect on it's own after this process completes.
If for any reason I can't get this done today, I'll jump back on this thread and let you know when we can.

Re: Mid Afternoon Dropouts

Jon,
Inspecting modem stats again would be useful.  If synch / attenuation / SNRM look markedly different, please post.  Otherwise I'll leave you to get on with RouterStats set up.
