they use active X V10, but not firefox et al, only iE

That's a very good article.
I remember the picture of Visual Basic 6 - our employer allowed us to be taught this (in our own time).
He thought it would make a nice diversion from going through 2000+ Insurance programs (mostly in RPG) searching for the Y2K bugs.
We spent a whole year on this.
Found exactly one bug.
