Micrfosoft Office 2003 standard edition

I can't remove this from my computer.  It will not let me install office 2007 until I get rid of 2003.  I have tried all normal methods; add/remove, windows explorer, search and something called gipo remover.  Apparently I am missing some DLL but all I want to do is get rid of it.  Can anyone help.
The 2003 standard edition was a 6 month trial.  I don't have any disk.  My grandson tried to download this from his school site; it is actually called Microsoft Office 2003 Standard Edition for Teachers and Students.  I have access to a legal 2007 disk but it won't work.

Have you tried re-installing 2003 (to replace the missing DLL) ? Once done make sure that you re-start the computer and then try uninstalling.

Put in your original install CD and you should be given the option to do a repair on the installed software. Then reboot and uninstall it.

I can't understand why even if you did repair 2003 that 2007 would ask you to uninstall it first.
I've installed Office 2007 on this machine and it did a upgrade with no bother, even to the point where I managed to roll it back to 2003..
I guess it depends on the version of 2007 you're upgrading to it seems.

If you have problems with what has been suggested above there is an open source option, its free with an optional donation. Most functions are very close to what MS Office offer http://www.openoffice.org/.

Re: Micrfosoft Office 2003 standard edition

Thanks Trebor:  I used the Revo un-installer and liked it a lot. Will keep it.  It seems to have gotten rid of my office 2003.  Thanks to everyone else as well for their efforts.
