Is there a restriction on the size an e-mail can be to send / receive?
I am trying to send a 110mb file across outlook

The simple answer is 'Yes'. I'm not sure what it is and if it is the same for all email systems but there is definitely a restriction.

I believe the Plusnet message size limit is 100M which means the attachment has to be smaller as I understand MIME encoding can increase attachment size by upto 30%. However, the recipient may have a smaller size limit, I think gmail is 10M (not sure). Try zipping the attachment if the recipient can receive OK.

With Gmail you can send or receive up to 25MB.

When sending through a client, our servers will allow up-to a 100MB file.
Email clients will differ on what would size file can be sent through them, I'm not 100% certain on Outlook.
It may be worth having a try of something like dropbox when sending files of this size.

That's slightly misleading Chris.
The servers allow an up to 100MB total message size (not each attached file). When files are attached they are encoded which increases the size. As a rule of thumb the total of all attachments in an email needs to be less than 80MB.
