Hi all,
I have brought a new router today and already have got it working with my internet connection however the speed had dropped from approx 1.3mb to 0.9mb.
The downstream data rate now is 1312kb but before I swapped the router it was approx 1712kb so how long will it take for me to get my usual speed?
Thanks

When I connected a home hub 3 I found it would sync 3 meg lower than the PlusNet Thompson.
Some routers sync lower than others, maybe thats the problem?

It won't
I tried a Netgear DG834G v5 and it was significantly worse than my DG834G v4 (different chipset)
You obviously have a very long line so many routers won't work as well.
Which routers have you changed from and to

Hi kingkong69,
I changed from my Thomson to a Netgear and my sync went down from 20000k to 16-17000k so it's not uncommon to lose speed when you change routers.

Expanding on what joanne said
Basically it depends on what chipset is used the router
Some work better than others
for example my DG384Gv3 (TI-AR7) kicks ass against every router i've tried it seems to work extremely well with BT equipment at the exchange.
DG384Gv3 - 16879kbps
DG384GT - 15864kbps
A whole meg difference roughly.
