Re: Low upspeed connection

Right, I've managed to see where all the wiring goes. What I thought was the master  socket is wired up to the NTL master phone socket (I don't have NTL at all).
The 'extension' socket is connected to the street bt line!
This is my router status page, no more info that I've posted really.

Re: Low upspeed connection

Can you post a picture of the socket you are using - I assume it is the only one in the house

Re: Low upspeed connection

It's the only one, it goes straight out the back through the wall and off to BT.
I've failed 3 times to upload a pic of the socket.
Maybe it'll let me upload this:

Re: Low upspeed connection

If you're thinking the in and out are just over halfway up (from the box's point of view) then no, that's shadows from part of the weird window frame the box is stuck to. The wires come straight out the back through the wall.
Pub time! Not sure if that's good or bad at this point  Undecided

Re: Low upspeed connection

That makes things easier.
You will need to raise a fault with Plusnet as it looks to be a BT problem
The only thing they will ask is that you check with another filter and another router. Is this possible.

Re: Low upspeed connection

I'm not actually using a filter as there's no phone connected. The only filter I have is one designed to replace the front of a master socket and obviously won't fit.
I've just gone through the fault checker abd will await the results.
Thanks for all the help. I'll post back when the results are in.

Re: Low upspeed connection

Test result summary: Inconclusive
We have not been able to complete the checks of your broadband service. This may be the result of a fault in the testing system rather than your service.
We will continue to monitor your fault, please provide more information or further updates on the occurance of your fault. If your fault has not re-occured since our testing, please close the ticket and confirm that you are satisfied that the problem is no longer occuring.

Re: Low upspeed connection

Absolutely normal response - just say the fault is still there.
What is actually means is that the test didn't complete satisfactorily - I wish they would change the default report  Sad

Looks like I'll have to wait until Monday and see what happens, Thanks Jim.

Re: Low upspeed connection

Hmm, seems there's noise on the voice portion of my line. Now to find a BT number so I can get them to sort it out...

Re: Low upspeed connection

You can't have a voice fault and a broadband fault running with BT Openreach at the same time
