Re: Low speed!! On Unlimited fibre 80/20

Well Jamie, Reply #7 says he was not on pcl anything, he was on  ptn-ag02 telehouse north. As I said I think the system was overloaded. However this thread http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,112523.0.html suggests there was a kit fault which effects latency, could that also relate to speed? (I doubt it but who knows?!)

Speeds back into the 40Megs this morning.
Has this been happening much then? First time I've really noticed as I tend to browse on my phone in front of the TV in the evenings  Cheesy

Last 2-3 weeks. More people have noticed it in the past week or so though.

It comes to us all Jamie......MY IP Profile has been reduced just because i changed a cable....god knows what will happen to the ip when we all start getting power cuts as they predict for the near future

What's that ! - you say the speed went down just because you changed a cable ?
Imagine what might happen if you did this - http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,112439

Yeah well I have noticed a few problems recently, the 'main' desktop pc seems really laggy in the evenings, but put it down to the pc as the FTTC connection has been great since we got it (despite the fact that we were syncing at 68Megs to start with which dropped significantly thanks to router problems and never went back up, but hey, 40Megs is great compared to my old DSL  8))

@englishrick
Sorry if you took that the wrong way, my comment was only aimed at Jamie, and not at you at all.
I don't doubt that changing cables can have a significant impact on connection speeds.
On my own 20CN up to 8Mb ADSL line, my speeds improved just changing the router cable from the standard 1.5M lead to a 50cm one !
I just wanted to highlight to readers of this thread, that there might be other issues going on here in relation to Jamie's connection.

Now one of the reasons I shouldn't have moved to PN Fibre and should have chose BT infinity instead!

Well, sorry to have to inform you Jamie, that Plusnet customers aren't the only ones suffering this problem. Have you not looked around the BT Community Care forums  Roll_eyes
I wonder if it has anything to do with rewiring the extension Master socket with 1mmT&E  Huh

I presume you are aware of the Network issues affecting Latency and Speed for some, http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,111170.448.html is the current page in the thread covering the issue. There now also a Service Status. HTH (as far as info. goes)!

Actually, I haven't made any changes to my wiring yet, and the wiring is not the cause of the slow speeds otherwise I wouldn't achieve 60meg in the normal times, so just be quiet!!
