Low "current line speed"

According to https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed my current linespeed is 0.2mbps as shown below
Estimated line speed:
8Mb (This may vary between 7Mb and 8Mb) - Checked on 2016-03-05 23:47:11
Current line speed:
0.2 Mb
Is there any reason why this would be the case? Currently my connection is more or less unusable at the moment.

Re: Low "current line speed"

Have you tried toggling router on and off via it's software to see if new connection established is at sensible speed?

Re: Low "current line speed"

Restarting the router doesn't seem to make a difference at all.

Re: Low "current line speed"

What are the router stats and also what does the BT speedtest further diagnostics show

Re: Low "current line speed"

The BT Wholesale Speedtest site repeatedly gives me this error: "Your speed test has completed and the results are shown above, however during the test an error occurred while trying to retrieve additional details regarding your service. As a result we are unable to determine if the speed you received during the test is acceptable for your service. Please re-run the test if you require this additional information."
In terms of router stats which ones are relevant?

Re: Low "current line speed"

That tells me several things
You are on 20CN - if you check here http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/ it won't say "BT have advised that this exchange is enabled for WBC on 21CN"
As such there will be a significant delay in the IP Profile (which you can't see) updating and until that does you are stuck
Given the  high SNR Margin it is likely that there is a fault on the line and this will have caused/contributed to the  low sync speed event which caused the IP Profile to drop to the stupidly low level
Can we take this a bit further
If you dial 17070 option 2 Quiet Line Test - is the line quiet
Is the router connected to the master socket or an extension socket

Re: Low "current line speed"

Yeah the line is quiet and yes the master socket is being used.

What about the 21CN question

Re: Low "current line speed"

Yes you're correct: BT have not advised a planned date for WBC on 21CN

Re: Low "current line speed"

in which case I would suggest raising a fault here https://faults.plus.net and see what comes back - they will require you to connect the router via the test socket using a filter - this gives details of how to do it if you need them http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,143835.0.html

Re: Low "current line speed"

My current line speed value is now showing as 7.15 Mb once more, yet my internet speed have not yet been restored, is it to be expected that my previous speed will return soon?

Re: Low "current line speed"

it will but you will need to do the following
Go into the router interface and click on disconnect then after about 20 secs click on connect
This doesn't resync the router just drops the PPP session

Re: Low "current line speed"

Doesn't seem to make a difference to the speed currently.
