Low Bandwidth

Connected 13 days ago at a starting speed of 12 Mbps, followed by a high number of disconnections over the first 10 days. Disconnections are now less frequent but download and upload speeds have both plummeted.
Router:
1 - Product name: Plusnet Router
3 - Firmware version: 7.275.2_F2704N_Plusnet
4 - Board version: F@ST2704N
5 - Mode ADSL
6 - Uptime: 0 days 22:51:05
7 - Data rate: 756/4543
8 - Maximum data rate: 1236/16020
9 - Noise margin: 8.3/21.4
10 - Line attenuation: 17.7/33.0
BT Speedtest:
Download speed achieved during the test was - 3.6 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 4.01 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.42Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
Plusnet Member Centre:
Estimated line speed:
   16Mb (This may vary between 14Mb and 18Mb) - Checked on 2015-07-11 21:53:00
Current line speed:
   4 Mb

Re: Low Bandwidth

Do the estimates match with what is on dslchecker.bt.com?
If the speeds are below what that displays for your line,  raise it to the faults team at https://portal.plus.net/apps/kbdfaults ; Smiley

Re: Low Bandwidth

That noise margin is very high (21.4db).
Looking at the connection logs I'm not surprised that the SNR has increased, your line has had a high number of disconnections.

Are you plugged into the master/test socket and is there any noise on the phone line?

Re: Low Bandwidth

Since the start, router has been connected directly to the ADSL faceplate master socket.
Removed faceplate and switched to using the test socket at ~21:00 12/08/15 (as seen on graph), but disconnections seem to have continued on 13/08/15 in spite of this (as also seen on graph).
Noise margin seems lower now, but seeing as the disconnections have still been occurring, it may be erratic:
1 - Product name: Plusnet Router
3 - Firmware version: 7.275.2_F2704N_Plusnet
4 - Board version: F@ST2704N
5 - Mode ADSL
6 - Uptime: 0 days 00:44:32
7 - Data rate: 804/4543
8 - Maximum data rate: 1272/10760
9 - Noise margin: 5.5/12.8
10 - Line attenuation: 17.7/32.5
Disconnections are at random times, day and night.

Re: Low Bandwidth

Following another disconnection while using the test socket, line noise has increased again:
1 - Product name: Plusnet Router
3 - Firmware version: 7.275.2_F2704N_Plusnet
4 - Board version: F@ST2704N
5 - Mode ADSL
6 - Uptime: 0 days 00:33:29
7 - Data rate: 828/4543
8 - Maximum data rate: 1360/15276
9 - Noise margin: 8.0/20.3
10 - Line attenuation: 17.3/32.0

Is this audible noise on the phone service? If so we need to look at that.

Yes, there is substantial noise (tested with 2 different phone systems connected to the test socket).
