Re: Loss of static IP and Plusnet Protect after Extra -> Unlimited changeover

Ooh... this has got me worried!
I specifically asked in a ticket if I would keep my IP block if I moved to unlimited, was told yes, and I even 'phoned to arrange the upgrade and asked the same question again, to confirm it.
If I lost my IP block, or it was changed, it would cause me a lot of work. I use multiple public IP's, have a somewhat unusual routing setup locally with two dedicated servers, a NATed VLAN, and an openBSD box as a firewall/router after a modem in half-bridging mode. Changing everything would take me a long time and lot of troubleshooting. Mostly because I can't even remember half of the places I've configured stuff.  Huh
I really hope things go smoothly on January 5th for me...

Not included in the price, it's free on that account.

It's showing  free  for 3 months then £2 month here too.  Not a problem, as I won't use it either.

If it should be free, does that not indicate a potential problem as there are at least two on here (myself included) to whom this is no longer showing as free?

It's a known problem (ref: 73930).

Re: Loss of static IP and Plusnet Protect after Extra -> Unlimited changeover

Lost my static IP which I have lost before and each time have asked and double-checked that it would stay but always lost it so can't rely on what agents say unfortunately. I got it sorted by Matt but obviously a new address. Not a big problem for me atm but can see how it could be problematic for some.
I have Unlimited (new package) but don't have the option of free Plusnet Protect either should I wish to avail of it. Sad Is it easy enough to add this free option on?

There's an FTP server I occasionally use which has very tight access control, it has a list of IP addresses which are allowed. If my fixed IP address changed it would cause me bother. I haven't ordered Unlimited!

I changed to Unlimited on 02/01/2013 and my static IP remained ok. Smiley

Re: Loss of static IP and Plusnet Protect after Extra -> Unlimited changeover

My account moved over to unlimited this morning and I've lost my static IP. I was on Extra originally but had upgraded to the 120Gb extra usage trial. I've raised a ticket asking to be assigned a new one.

@Jelv - yes can understand that and your staying put for the mean time. Here's hoping the 'fix' this coming week works for everyone. There is a bug too with Plusnet Protect that is being investigated where it's not being added to the new 'unlimited' account.

That fix won't come in time for my switch to Unlimited in the early hours of tomorrow morning so I'll check my static IP over breakfast. Undecided

Re: Loss of static IP and Plusnet Protect after Extra -> Unlimited changeover

This should be fixed later today, it's been through testing on our staging platform without issue. So those of you that are concerned about losing static IP should be able to switch to the new Unlimited without worry soon.

Incidentally I have attached a screen grab of my running JD Speed tester.
