Well, I disconnected the IP session, not the ADSL, let it reconnect and lo and behold speed back up to 2.6Mbps. Seems as though a new IP session is needed to pick up the changed profile.

Shouldn't be the case, but glad it's sorted, that's always worth a try as last resort
