Linux ADSL PCI card SNR margin

I have recently replaced a D-Link 524 with a Solos Linux ADSL PCI card http://www.traverse.com.au/productview.php?product_id=116
This has generally been a great improvement, especially given the D-Link's insistence on turning back on TCPMSS clamping every so often, however the card seems to aim for a much higher SNR margin than the D-Link (14dB vs 6dB), resulting in 1-2Mb/s lower sync speeds.
There are various settings that can be changed but unfortunately the manual is very brief and Traverse have not replied to e-mails. I have tried setting AnnexAForceSNRMarginDn, BisMForceSNRMarginDn and BisAForceSNRMarginDn to 60 (and 6) but the margin has remained above 14. Is it possible to reduce the minimum margin that the card requires? Any suggestions or a pointer to an explanation of the various parameters would be appreciated.
The files with rw access in /sys/class/atm/solos-pci0/parameters are:
