Linksys WAG54GS (issues resolved) & 21CN performance update

Hi folks,
Refer to my rant here: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,76490.0.html
After 6 days of no connection and a few unhelpful calls to support I finally decided enough was enough contacted PlusNet to get my MAC key.
Heather was very helpful and pushed this through then I spoke to another helpful fellow, Keith, who told me some settings required for my router.
If you happen to have a Linksys router you'll need to set the following:
Modulation: ADSL2 or ADSL2+
VPI/VCI 'Autodetect': disabled
VPI: 0
VCI: 38
Even though the status shows the VPI/VCI as 0 and 38 autodetected it seems to modulate which causes issues.
Anyway I'm currently a satisfied customer once again and thought I'd pass the info onto anyone else who seems to have having the same trouble.

Re: Linksys WAG54GS Issues (resolved -tips here)

I thought I would post my current progress on 21CN so far.
I am connecting at a very stable 3261kbps DOWN / 636kbps UP.
I have moved my router to my master socket and disconnected all other items from the phoneline.
However on speedtest.net I get the following (tested twice):
1) 1.37Mb/s DOWN, 0.5Mb/s UP, Ping 89ms
2) 1.37Mb/s DOWN, 0.5Mb/s UP, Ping 78ms
And on BT Speedtester:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 3260 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  636 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1291 kbps
Any ideas why I seem to be 'capped' at such a low speed?

Martyn

Current line speed looks low?Huh

UPDATE: I typically use wireless to connect my upstairs machine to the internet so to rule that out I connected my laptop to my router via a network cable. The speed results were identical to the above Sad

Ta chap!
I've posted the results there.
I don't believe my IP profile has changed since I moved here so it's been 2500kbps for around 3~4 years lol!

@ MM
I've upped your profile at our end to 2500Kbps.
You should see a bit of an improvement.

Re: Linksys WAG54GS (issues resolved) & 21CN performance update

if you still get the same results on speed tests then if you login to your router and just diconnect reconnect the internet(no need to resync) that will pick the new PN profile up

Woo that's better!
Thanks muchly... quick question will be BT IP profile increase over time or is 2500 it?
My sync speed is still a stable 3217kbps so would that profile increase to 3000?

Re: Linksys WAG54GS (issues resolved) & 21CN performance update

Affraid not at that sync speed.
You would need to sync at between these rates 3424 kbps 3968 kbps for 3 days solid with no drop in sync below 3424 before profile update to 3000.
check here for sync rate vs profile table http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/IPprofile.htm
