Just wondering if anyone's managed to get a Linksys WAG120N working with a BT OpenReach fibre modem on Plusnet?
I've recently had my Thompson TG582n router replaced after the last one managed to melt itself, but the replacement (same model) is almost as bad, sometimes giving us as low as 10Mbps down/1Mbps up compared to our normal speeds of nearer 50Mbps down/25Mbps up. It's being used in quite a large property with 30-odd devices connected over Wifi so I figured I'd try setting my old/purchased Linksys WAG120N router up (
http://www.linksys.com/en-mea/products/gateways/WAG120N) either instead of the 582n or as a second AP.
This router can be set up to use the first Ethernet port as a WAN port, so first I enabled that setting, set it to PPPoE, added my login details but can't get it to connect. So now I have the TG582n connected to the BT fibre modem as before and the Linksys router set up as a second AP over Ethernet and on 802.11n only.
The second AP was about 50% of the speed earlier today but they seem to have levelled out:

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3571714850I'm mainly wondering if anyone's had any success using the WAG120N (or similar) on its own with Plusnet fibre, or if there's any negatives to using the better router connected through the TG582n we've had issues with? I realise this is pretty much a case of #firstworldproblems since even the slower speeds are pretty fast, but with 30 devices sharing a connection it can still feel like dial-up.
