Re: Line speed

Hi there,
That looks about right for the current BT profile, I'm not sure having checked the records though that we'll be able to get you 14Mb - I've gone back to early November and can't see any profiles that high I'm afraid. The line has retrained though, and the banding is removed, so chances are what the line settles at now will be about the best you can expect to receive.

Re: Line speed

But with Attenuation Down: 32.0 dB, Up: 17.5 dB, he should be getting c. 12Mb, no?

Matt, I've corrected your post:

That looks about right for the current BT profile but absolutely rubbish for your attenuation. I'm not sure what is going on but something is amiss which we need to investigate. I'm not sure having checked the records though that we'll be able to get you 14Mb - I've gone back to early November and can't see any profiles that high I'm afraid - but we should be able to get you fa better than you are currently seeing. The line has retrained though, and the banding is removed, so chances are what the line settles at now will be about the best you can expect to receive.

Re: Line speed

@jelv Well, you might possibly have been a bit less patronising, but thanks.
@SWANECO, I can see a phone line fault for a noisy line investigation was closed today, are you still hearing noise on the line? As others have helpfully posted, there's something causing a slower speed than should be there so noise is a prime suspect - if it is still present, we'd need to get it raised. If it's not then you'd need to update your current fault ticket with the latest stats and see what our faults team can come up with.

Re: Line speed

Hi, in order to get you a faster speed we need to progress this as a fault. Please can you answer the questions in my previous post so we know how best to do that, thanks.

Re: Line speed

If you dial 17070 and choose the Quiet Line test, this will let you hear any noise on the line without the ring tone (it might help a bit).

Re: Line speed

Hi
Sorry about not providing the info.
Basically after the rewire the line noise disappeared on Friday.
Some time on Sunday the line noise, much reduced  came back.
This seems to be pretty much what happens, I have had 5 visits from BT OR in the last 6 months.

HI,
I am even more confused
BTW Diagnostics
Download speed achieved during the test was -              11.08 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is  4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is -                                                      10.41 Mbps
Router stats
Uptime: 0 days, 4:02:06
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 447 / 11.799
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 15,3 / 29,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:         20,3 / 9,3

Re: Line speed

That looks better. However your upload is capped - hopefully someone from Plusnet will spot this and place an uncap order.
What's confusing you?

Re: Line speed

I think the  For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is  4 Mbps-21 Mbps. bit. But this is just the ADSL2+ download speed range (I think).

Re: Line speed

Hi
what is confusing me is that on the 15th my speeds were 446/2474
I am now achieving 4 times that speed.
