Re:Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

There were still issues with PCL-AG03 during the day yesterday, these should now be resolved.

Hi all,
As per the latest update the AG03 issue now seems resolved though we've still got it open for monitoring. We'll carry on updating the thread as new information becomes available.

Re: Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

Well, things are picking up at last,bt speedtest shows a 3000 profile,2500 in the pn member center (guess it`ll update soon, unless a staff member is looking in Cheesy ).
Here`s hoping i`ll be back to my usuall 4000 profile soon.

Re: Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

Had a bit of a blip (power outage) but now same situation again,3000 profile/2500 in the member center.....can someone give it a nudge again please? Smiley
Slowly getting there though, uptime of 100 hours, should step up again in another 48 hours hopefully.

Re: Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

Thanks for the help mand, but my conection is still reluctant to get back up to my old sync rate of 4700kbps Sad
Was at a 3000 profile last night, came home from work this evening, ran a bt speedtest and i`m back to a 2500 profile. (have called this in and been told what i`ve already been doing  aka wait 3 days for the lift in sync).
It`s just the dragging on is getting me down a bit now,bt line has been fine since last engineer`s visit but i`m still not getting my broadband back to how it was.
Is there no way bt can drop my noise margin as i`ve not seen in any lower than 9.4db,4700 sync used to give me a 5.5-6.5db one and stable at that too.
Here`s hoping some magic can be worked!

Re: Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

Wow, this is a carbon copy of what is happening with my speed too. Everything was hunky dorey untill my BT line started being crackly and getting worse and worse till BT took two days to fix it. It seemed to happened after days of heavy rain. Well now I am waiting for my 72 hours to pass. I will keep my eye on this thread from now on.
I have to say, despite my problems I think the PN staff are very helpful.
And if anyone turns off my router in the mean time...... Angry

Re: Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

Well, weird happenings in my member center now.
.
since i signed up i had a estimated line speed of 4000 (with a connection to match),but now this shows since thursday..
Telephone number:
    01474******
Phone exchange:
    SHORNE
Estimated line speed:
    0.5 - Checked on 2009-11-26 21:59:53
Current line speed:
    2500
Doubled checked on some bb signup pages and 0.5 is the estmated speed that they also give, although i`m synced at 3104 currently and getting a dl speed of around 290k/bps.
Current router stats are...
ADSL Link                  Downstream  Upstream
Connection Speed 3104 kbps         448 kbps
Line Attenuation         49.0 db                 31.0 db
Noise Margin         11.8 db                 20.0 db
uptime of 40 hours and bt speedtest and routerstats screenshot of my connection over this morning attatched.

Re: Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

Hi there,
well the profile and throughput are consistent with your current sync speed. I'm guessing you have a longish bit of overhead line from the noise graph? but it might be an idea to describe your internal set up, sockets etc., what's plugged in where?
As for those recent estimates, they are complete bunkum. The original was about right albeit slightly pessimistic for a good quality line - which I'm afraid you haven't quite got at the moment!
That ridiculous low estimated at the member centre is the second I've seen recently, and the other was on a line performing better with no faults as well - something odd going on here - anyway ignore that for a moment a trivial secondary issue at the moment.

Re: Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

Ok,router is a flashed ex-sky DG834GT,plugged into a filtered faceplate, which is in turn plugged into the master socket.
Shilded RJ11 cable from the socket to router and pc plugged into a ethernet port on that.
Only the telephone is plugged into the faceplate,no sky box and the extention wires have been removed inside also.
I`m exactly 1 mile as the crow flys from the exchange (if i recall the last engineer said i`m about 3.2k line length).
I used to sync around 4700-4800,460-475 k/bps dl speed if i recall before all this.
Got a DG834 non wfi here running DG team firmware that has a nm 1-2 db lower, maybe a re flash of the GT would help?

Re: Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

I don't think re-flashing firmware will help.
The attenuation in reply #38 would give a line length around 3.5km for a good line, so maybe your line is not so good.if it's around 3.2km.
I'm wondering what's pushed your Target SNRM up, it looks as though it might be at 12db, which is why you would have seen faster speeds in the past.
If you've got Routerstats' Noise graphs saved, can you post say today's middayish and this evenings, and the current stats as well.

Re: Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

Sorry for the late reply.....
Well,my sn was reset to 6db,only mentioned it here and on the phone to pn,didn`t actually request it in my ticket.
But the long and short of it is i`m back to pre problem speeds now at last Smiley

Tue 01 Dec 2009  11:55:11,    Noise Margin= 6.6, Sync Speed= 4704
Reflashed the router to the latest DGteam firmware anyway and all seems nice and stable.

Re: Line speed at 250.....3 day wait for catch up?

Well,guess what everyone.......it`s back Sad
Started the early hours of this morning, tried a few re-connections thinking that`ll cure the drop in sync but after getting up this morning and making a phone call i noticed the dredded "noise" on the line.
Bt called and booked in for tomorrow afternoon (4th visit since middle of october now).
Did just call PN cs,but the person on the other end of the line wasnt helpfull in the slightest, was trying to find out the exact time of the drop in sync speed so i could let the engineer know tomorrow.
Had routerstats running since i got up and here`s a current graph....
