Line slow -profile seems to have dropped can you reset please

Hi PN team,
my line has been synching at around 2Mb for quite a while.
However we had a power outage on Thursday last and since then
speed seems to have dropped. I did a graceful modem reset on Saturday (11th)
which seemed to restore synch speed. But it appears PN profile is stuck at 1Mb
again. Current modem stats look like this :-
System Up Time 7 days 05:02:25
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN pppoa 4294886308 4294909998 0 145932 670 08:08:16
LAN1 Link Down 948585 838479 0 705 251 --
LAN2 10M/100M 7 days 05:02:17
LAN3 Link Down --
LAN4 Link Down --
WLAN 300M 1851771 1529793 0 3143 278 7 days 05:02:07
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2211 kbps 683 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 38.6 db
Noise Margin 4.0 db 4.5 db
thanks, Ian

Re: Line slow -profile seems to have dropped can you reset please

Hi,
We're getting two sets of data from BT (depending on which test I perform). I've therefore changed the profile on our side to match the best I'm getting from BTwholesale (1.9Mbit).
If you can please re-test (after a re-connection) and let me know if you still have problems. If you do, I'll take it up with BTw for you.

Re: Line slow -profile seems to have dropped can you reset please

Tony,
To ensure that the user's expectations are managed, which of the two values is coming through on the delta reports?  If it is different to the one you have chosen, the automated scripts are only going to unfix your manual fix.  Seems like the BTw confusion needs sorting regardless - is this the DLM / bRAS miss match seen elsewhere before?
@dvvrue95,
In reference to "re-connect" log into your router and find the reference to Internet or PPP session (depending on your router) and do a manual reconnect.  This avoids the risk of dropping synch, as would happen if you pulled the wires or powered down the modem/router.  Getting a new synch speed will generate a (possibly) wrong new delta reporting being sent to PN to change what Tony has "fixed".

Hi Tony,
thanks for yr quick response. Will attempt disconn/reconn and let you know outcome.
@ Townman
A good heads up there! I was just wondering if my "graceful" (i.e. manual disconnect, powered down etc)
modem reset on Saturday had only confused BT  Wink

Re: Line slow -profile seems to have dropped can you reset please

Ian,
It might certainly have generated a new delta report.  I am not certain if a delta report is generated on a resynch, if the resynch is at the same speed.  Clearly if it is different a report will (should) be generated.  PN process these at regular intervals throughout the day.  The correct application of the changes should cause a PPP session drop to pick up,the update. However as noted by OldJim elsewhere this is not happening consistently.
You can check the alignment for yourself - do the further diagnostics on the BT speed test and note the profile figure.  Go to the PlusNET portal and log into your account.  Under connection, look at current speed.
The PN figure should be the BT figure round down to the nearest 100kbps.

The two tests performed were a full KBD check and a stand alone DSL status check. The latter tends to be updated quicker and allows us to manually adjust our side. There should be no problems with delta reports/automated scripts.

Re: Line slow -profile seems to have dropped can you reset please

Hi Tony,
OK I completed a "software" disconn/reconn via the modem and all seems to be stable
at a PN profile of 1.9M now. Current modem stats look like this :-
System Up Time 7 days 16:36:25
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN pppoa 147120 297423 0 115520 14101 10:19:35
LAN1 Link Down 1265506 1042859 0 1281 272 --
LAN2 10M/100M 7 days 16:36:17
LAN3 Link Down --
LAN4 Link Down --
WLAN 300M 2084141 1721270 0 3312 292 7 days 16:36:07
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2211 kbps 683 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 38.6 db
Noise Margin 3.5 db 5.2 db
I cant seem to access the BT speed checker have been trying on and off
this evening (keep getting system busy) so can't do a comparison PN / BT profile
but speed has picked up and remained so  Wink
