Line Speed Dropped Since switching over to ADSL2+

Hello all, I did mention this in another thread but was propably overlooked as I already had the original questioned answered.
Since I had my line switched over to ADSL2+ my line has dropped frpm around 1500kbps to 600kbps. I have put a broadband fault check in but the results came back Inconclusive and now waiting for it to be escalated to the correct team for review. This was on Sunday and I have still had no word. I switched over to ADSL2+ about 8th April so its been over 10 days for my line to get adjusted.
These are the readings I have taken with the Plusnet Speedtester I have in my history.
Today 19:35  685 kbps (85.6kB/s)  545 kbps (68.1kB/s)
Today 09:31         662 kbps (82.8kB/s) 543 kbps (67.9kB/s)
Today 09:31  684 kbps (85.5kB/s) 439 kbps (54.9kB/s)
Yesterday 16:14 682 kbps (85.3kB/s) 549 kbps (68.6kB/s)
Yesterday 09:54 679 kbps (84.9kB/s) 532 kbps (66.5kB/s)
Sunday 14:43 677 kbps (84.6kB/s) 543 kbps (67.9kB/s)
Sunday 10:11 679 kbps (84.9kB/s) 595 kbps (74.4kB/s)
Sunday 09:49 685 kbps (85.6kB/s) 622 kbps (77.8kB/s)
Apr 11, 08:44 1363 kbps (170kB/s) 602 kbps (75.3kB/s)
Jan 23, 12:03 3200 kbps (400kB/s) 383 kbps (47.9kB/s)
2009-11-02 09:05 2560 kbps (320kB/s) 381 kbps (47.6kB/s)
2009-11-02 09:03 1723 kbps (215kB/s) 363 kbps (45.4kB/s)
These are my test results from the BT Speedtester.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 557 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2264 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 640 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1750 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 18.13:22.98:58.89 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
This is the status of my Modem

Re: Line Speed Dropped Since switching over to ADSL2+

Does Current line speed on this website page give a number much less than the BT IP Profile of 1750kbps? Your measurements seem to be consistent with that figure being 1000kbps.
Does your router always sync at 2264kbps? I'm wondering if the DLM has put you on the 1152-2272kbps banded profile.

Re: Line Speed Dropped Since switching over to ADSL2+

Hi spraxyt
Estimated line speed:
    0.5 - Checked on 2010-01-25 12:39:22
Current line speed:
    1750
Just done another speedtest and these are the results.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 985 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2264 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 696 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1750 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 19.9:19.19:60.91 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
My Modem Status this morning is also.

Re: Line Speed Dropped Since switching over to ADSL2+

Snap
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 968 / 2.268
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 73,62 / 822,82
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,5 / 0,0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 28,0 / 48,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 5,0 / 10,0
I believe that both of us are on a banded profile. I have been syncing at 2268 for over 2 months now. The DLM (dynamic line manager) should be renamed PLM (passive line manager) as it has not been very dynamic on my line.

Re: Line Speed Dropped Since switching over to ADSL2+

What do I need to do to get off a banded profile?

Re: Line Speed Dropped Since switching over to ADSL2+

Hi kalvinparker,
We can request that a banded profile is removed, but it'll only happen if you're pretty much constantly in sync at the top end of the profile. If that's the case (it looks likely from the figures you've posted) then let us know and we'll get on it for you.

Re: Line Speed Dropped Since switching over to ADSL2+

Hi Matt
Someone from Plusnet rang me yesturday regarding the fault connection I reported on Sunday and suggested I change the filter on my phone line and also plug it into the bt test socket and see what happens over the next 48 hrs due to alot of disconnections on the line.
If removing the banded profile will help then yes please.
Many Thanks - Kalvin

Re: Line Speed Dropped Since switching over to ADSL2+

Hi kalvin,
It'll probably happen as part of the fault investigation anyway, but I'll make sure to look it over. It depends what's happening, if there are disconnections happening then it wouldn't be removed but if the line's stable (and speed improves with different filters/test socket) then we should be able to get it done.
