Line Activation

Good Morning,
Just signed up with Plusnet, had my phone line installed and that's working ok but i'm now waiting on my broadband being activated.
I'm really eager to start using it and wonder if this can be pushed through at all? It's been roundabout 6-7 working days since I got my phone line installed.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Graeme  Smiley

Re: Line Activation

Hey,
Just got home to check my broadband and it seems a bit slow when i signed up I had an from PlusNet saying:
Estimated line speed: 15Mbps but my current speed is well under this, can you clarify why this is?
Is there anything you can do to speed things up? Why am I getting 6Mbps if I should be on 15Mbps? I understand there's some dynamic speed testing so that it settles on the best speed for the line - is this affecting it?
I ran the BT Speedtest (http://speedtester.bt.com/) and got the following:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 6611 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 4000-21000 Kbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 17000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 21.73:25.24:53.03 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
Any help would be much appreciated

Re: Line Activation

yes there is a ten day training period, leave your router on 24/7 during this period, it is said that a single reboot between about 1 hour after sun rise to 2 pm helps a few times during this ten days

Re: Line Activation

It looks like the Current line speed entry shown on the portal here might well say 7150kbps instead of the 17000kbps it should be. If that is the case it should update automatically within a few hours following receipt of a 'delta' report from the BT systems.

Re: Line Activation

Hi gpavlovic,
Had to perform a little maintenance on your account so if you reboot the router now, you will see the increase in speed.

Re: Line Activation

Hey, just got home from work and ran the BT speed test, as you can see definitely faster but still not matching my IP profile.
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download Speed
9707 Kbps

0 Kbps 21000 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 9707 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 4000-21000 Kbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 17000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 6.91:28.32:64.77 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
