Re: Lease time (F.A.O. Chris Pettitt)

As far as I am aware the lease time is 24 hours for a Dynamic IP Address.
If you'd like, I can flag this question to get further clarification, but we'll be unlikely to get an answer until Monday.

Re: Lease time (F.A.O. Chris Pettitt)

Well your IP will always remain the same unless your connection drops. Is there a specific reason you're wanting to know what the lease time is?

Keeef, are you effectively asking how long after you stop using a particular IP address it might get re-allocated to another user?

Re: Lease time (F.A.O. Chris Pettitt)

I was recently approaching 900 hours of continuous up time; then there was a power cut.  So I would have held the same IP address for all that time.

Re: Lease time (F.A.O. Chris Pettitt)

Is that 900 hours without a single PPP session drop?

Re: Lease time (F.A.O. Chris Pettitt)

The lease time isn't actually that long as on each PPP disconnection you'll be assigned a new IP address even if the previous connection only lasted a few seconds.
If you need a static IP (and aren't on Value) you can add one via the add-ons section of the website.

As far as I know, yes; that was the WAN up time reported by my Netgear router.  I cannot be certain as the router event log was lost when the power failed.  But at present it tells me the most recent WAN session has lasted 40 hour whereas the router uptime is around 400 hours (since the day after that power failure, I think).

Re: Lease time (F.A.O. Chris Pettitt)

That's pretty impressive!
Personally I have a Static IP as I occasionally host games and do other bits and bobs.
