Hi,
A few days ago I requested that my line my upgraded from ADSL to ADSL2+. Earlier today, I heard the phone ring faintly twice which suggested that my phone line was been tinkered with and, sure enough, my modem soon rebooted and reported that it had an ADSL2 connection.
But my ADSL2 speeds are EXACTLY the same as my ADSL1 speeds were earlier today. I'm not complaining, I wasn't expected a big jump in speeds. But the fact that the speeds are precisely the same seems to suggest that maybe the BT exchange hardware is just using the same profile it created when I was on ADSL for my ADSL2 connection - is that possible? Do I have to request for my line to be re-profiled or something (I'm quite new to ADSL geekery so forgive me if I've totally misunderstood). Another thing I don't understand is the modem reports it's connecting using "ADSL2" instead of "ADSL2+" yet my exchange (NEW CROSS) apparently does have ADSL2+ enabled.
The BT Line Checker says I should only be getting 2Mbps so I suppose I should be happy
I have a D-Link DSL-2640B with v4.00 UK firmware
The reported stats:
