Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

Yeah, I thought of that as well, and did try it - but to no avail.
I basically spent all of Saturday night trying anything I could think of, including a factory reset of my router.

Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

I had a problem with a Netgear DG834GT just yesterday, It turned out that after a factory reset of the GT the VPI setting had defaulted to 8 rather than 0!
It may be worth checking the ADSL settings on your Netgear router just to be sure the settings are as follows;
Multiplexing method = VC-BASED
VPI = 0
VCI = 38
This then allowed the GT to then connect to plusnet!

Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

Has his connection been provisioned with the correct domains for Plusnet?
He couldn't connect to bt_test_user@plusdsl.net but could to bt_test@startup_domain.
If that's OK, isn't it purely an authentication issue?

That is what made me think about the GT yesterday, The sync was successful but authentication failed!
After setting the VPI back to 0 authentication was successful!

Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

I'm pretty sure it's set to 0 as I went through the router setting with the support guy on the phone yesterday, but will check when I get home.
How long should I expect to wait before someone calls me back with the results of the line tests?

Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

I wouldn't expect much from the line test! If you can connect using bt_test@startup_domain but not when using bt_test_user@plusdsl.net it means that PN/BT haven't set up your line/account correctly, not that there is a fault on the line.

Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

Ok, so I received the following update this morning:
"After further testing we can see that you are now back in sync but have yet to connect to the internet. Please reset your router using the button located on the back labeled "reset" and re-configure your connection ensuring you use the correct username and your password."
So when I get home I'll reset my router and see how it goes. I've already phoned home and asked the missus to reboot it but that hasn't given me an internet connection so I'll do a full reset when I get home.
Fingers crossed.

Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

Actually, can anyone tell me what "We have been unable to confirm a PPP session" means?
This is contained in the update to my question on the plusnet portal, it then finishes by saying "Now in sync looks to be a PPP issue."

Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

It means you haven't got internet access.
Basically you are in sync with the exchange and the Plusnet systems can see it but you aren't getting a connection to the Plusnet servers
This is a typical one from my router log and I suspect the PPP session bit refers to the CHAP authentication

Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

Ok, thanks.
That looks very similar to what I was seeing in my router status page when I had no connection.
I'm just a bit worried now that I'll get home and still not be able to get connected. After 3 years of uninterrupted connection before the switch I never realised how much I'd miss my internet!

Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

Yeah, thanks for the call.
I'll let you know if I get connected. If you don't hear from me by around 7pm you can assume that I couldn't get connected.

Re: Just switched to plusnet and have lost internet after 4 days.

Ok, so as I feared there was still no internet connection when I got home  Sad
Tried rebooting my router and then resetting it and setting up again from scratch and still nothing. So was back on the phone to update the issue and it's now gone back to the tech team to be looked at this morning. Seems to be an authentication issue, in my connection status on the router it keeps saying 'CHAP authentication has failed'
