Can anyone answer me why my BT Voyager 2110 router says
ADSL Speed (DS/US) 7616/448 Kbps
yet my broadband speedchecker says
Date Download Speed Upload Speed
Today 22:31 3325 kbps (416kB/s) 373 kbps (46.6kB/s)
Just curious why?

The higher ADSL speeds from the router are the sync speeds established between your modem and the exchange (the maximum bit rates). The lower figures are actual throughput speeds measured by the speed tester.
The actual throughput is less than the sync speed due to transmission overheads (ATM and TCP/IP), which accounts for around 13%, the overheads in setting up and supporting the connection (connection dependent), and congestion effects at busy times.

Thanks spraxyt.
Two things PN taught me from when I considered and signed up to BBYW Option 2 was traffic and GB usage prior to that I was a complete novice. I still don't exceed my original 8 Gb a month despite allowance increase given.
Am considering changing packages due to my mature student lifestyle but am loathed to tie myself into a contract and reduce speeds further.
At least I now feel a little more informed on speeds.

You can move between BBYW products without changing your contract. James would be able to help and advise further should you want to consider that.
