Just got my 14 days of service email..

Received this:
Now that your service has now been active for 14 days, we thought we'd let you know the speed as it stands today, by way of comparison.
Estimated line speed: 8Mbps
Current line speed: Not available
You can keep a track of your line speed through our website:
https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed

Estimated line speed:
8 - Checked on 2009-11-05 13:54:05
Current line speed:
6500

Is there any reason why my Current speed is set to that and not at 8000 for example? I have had 8 meg downloads before on other providers, just wondering how come im at 6.5 with Plusnet, thanks.

Two things which need checking.
Can you post your router reported speeds and the result from a  BT Speed Test www.speedtester.bt.com

and can you tell us your previous ISP as it is not possible on a plain ADSL lint to get much more than 6400 download,  you can synch at 8128 and a profile of 7150

Try again now Wink I've made a slight adjustment.
It won't be over 7150, as that's the highest IP profile on an ADSL up to 8Mb line.

Re: Just got my 14 days of service email..

@pierre_pierre: Im on the +Max addon package that costs about 8 quid extra a month for the extra upload speed.
@Chris: Not noticed any difference at all, do I need to reboot router?

Re: Just got my 14 days of service email..

Although this has changed yes:
Estimated line speed:
8 - Checked on 2009-11-05 13:54:05
Current line speed:
7150
Oh well if that's the highest, 6meg seems my best here?

just found this

Quote from: volta84
I am on the Gaming Pacakage with + ProMax upgrade (increase upload speed/better contention ratio)
With Interleaving off and I live about 100m from the exchange.
Before having Interleaving on though I was getting pings around your level. Have you checked if its on/off yet? As when mine got turned off I didn't get any notice or anything..

I posted the same time as you and it answered my question about upload speed
