Just curious about DLM Upload/Download disparity.

Currently I'm at about 43mbs with DLM adjustments (after a reset its like 88 but that tanks fast) which is higher then I generally get, but I've had fewer disconnects lately. Hell I had 6 days without a disconnection, twice in a row. But I guess that's just because my plusnet renewal offer was coming up.

My upload speed when DLM does its thing tends to be around 1-2mbs though, lol.

So will DLM detect a fault with upload transmission and *independently* reduce that? Or is this a one size fits all reduction.

My upload issues must be pretty consistently awful if its independent.

(Not looking for a fix or any help changing it, I gave up with that three engineers ago).

Re: Just curious about DLM Upload/Download disparity.

It would help if you can just post the router stats please.  US and DS can be adjusted separately.

There are various causes of issues from iffy joints on your line (can be hard to find all of them) through to RFI from iffy electrical equipment which otherwise appears to be working normally.

Iffy joints will make a line more susceptible to RFI.

You need three engineer visits to get an escalation raised for a more in-depth investigation.  I once had over a dozen over a 5 month period before one took the trouble to find and remake every joint.  Aluminium in part of the circuit did not help!

Sounds like there’s a fault so you will need to re-engage with the repair process.  This has nothing to do with nearing the end of your contract.  Such is a common fantasy, possibly arising from folks looking more closely at performance.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

@alexrpm

I assume there are no fibre options available to you.

It's possible to upgrade to full fibre "mid contract" with Plusnet.

Given the poor performance of your copper line it's worth keeping an eye on the possibilities.
