Job's a Good 'Un Plusnet.

My Plusnet broadband went active today, transferred from BT Infinity. I just wanted to say thanks, makes a refreshing change to call Plusnet Customer Services and speak to someone who's actually in the UK and not reading from a script, the call center staff have been great, as for my new Broadband connection, I've never had pings this low.  I'm really happy I made the move. cheers!

Re: Job's a Good 'Un Plusnet.

I wish I have that low ping!
Maybe BT put u on Speed – prioritise speed over stability for online gamers rather than Standard – best overall balance between speed and stability for general internet users.
BT FTTC had three modes:

Standard – best overall balance between speed and stability for general internet users.
Stable – prioritise stability over speed for IPTV videoconferencing, home workers and businesses transferring data and IPTV.
Speed – prioritise speed over stability for online gamers.
My ping is average range between 12ms and 9ms

I don't know much about the technical side, but my game servers are based in Holland, I'm getting pings of 15ms to holland so my gaming should get better

@ goldenfibre - I don't think being on a different BT Wholesale profile will make any difference with the ping times.
Out of interest, are you on a one of the new gateways (BNG)?

Re: Job's a Good 'Un Plusnet.

I meant which gateway are you on.
I see higher ping times (3-5ms) on BNGs compared to the older gateways.

Re: Job's a Good 'Un Plusnet.

AndyH (the new gateway are more faster throughput speed than the older gateway) approx 1.5Mbps more! Very strange indeed.
