James - Can we uncap my upstream again please?

Hello James
My upload speed was capped over the weekend to see if it made any difference to my downstream sync rates. Unfortunately it made no difference so is it possible to put the upstream back to its uncapped state please?
Thanks for all your help so far.

Hi James
I'm away from home atm so I cant change my current upload sync rates. Has my upstream been uncapped yet?
Cheers

According to BT, your order has completed.

I'm not sure why but I'm seeing no change since rebooting the router a few minutes ago this-evening:
Uptime: 0 days, 0:12:08
DSL Type: G.992.3 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 443 / 3,335
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/MB] 447.29 / 1.60
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 13.0 / 0.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 27.0 / 47.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 19.0 / 9.5
As you can see, the sync rate still appears to be capped.
I really hope the old sync rate can be restored because it was the only advantage I had to being on 21CN!  Sad

Looks like BT have banded your upstream.  They're nice like that Smiley
I take it things have been pretty stable recently?

Re: James - Can we uncap my upstream again please?

It was pretty stable before we put the cap on. Could you please explain to them that the cap was placed because we wanted to experiment with the downstream and not for stability issues?
With this band in place my connection is identical to 20CN Sad

Re: James - Can we uncap my upstream again please?

Exactly the same thing has happened to me. My upstream was banded until for about 10 days until Oct 19th when (after intervention by James) it was unbanded and I was getting a sync of 655 (still not back to the 775 I was getting before banding). I've been away for a couple of days, and now I find I'm back to a 448 upstream sync (and an upstream noise margin of 15). Is the DLM interpreting the switching off of my router overnight as a fault?Huh
James - is it likely that now this will just continue indefinitely? I really don't know why it's happening. Although my downstream speed has had well-documented problems (SNR dropping to zero or thereabouts during the hours of darkness) the upstream connection hasn't had any problems at all - at least not that I could discern. SNR was always a rock-solid 5. But I fear that once the DLM decides to start banding, it won't stop.
Is there any way you can check on why my upstream line has been (re-)banded? Or do I have to go through the rigmarole of raising a fault ticket?
I did wonder briefly if I'd been put back onto ADSL Max, given that the trial has now ended. But it doesn't appear that trialists have been taken off the 21CN. If this is going to go on, though, I'm thinking I might as well take myself off the trial, move to Value and forget about higher speeds.

Been away over the weekend but I'll hopefully be able to check the router again tomorrow morning. Any idea how long I'll have to wait for BT to pull their finger out and un-band the upstream?

Re:James - Can we uncap my upstream again please?

Hi Graham,
It certainly sounds like your upstream has been rebanded Sad  Is your router seeing a lot of errors still?
@ComplexP - It looks like that in a moment of sheer ineptitude, I managed to place your order incorrectly.  I've placed it again and your upstream should be uncapped tomorrow.

Don't sweat it James, we all make mistakes  Wink
Does that mean that my upstream isn't actually banded afterall?
