Issue resolving names from home lan

I recently updated my connection to fiber with the package as part of this plus provided with a new router Technicolor TG582n FTTC. The configuration parameters were set automatically during the installation process.
Here the issue and conditions tried:
- I have a domain pointing to the IP address provided. This was set some time ago, before the update and always worked fine. On the provider I have <domain> and <*.domain> pointing to my fix IP.
- No changes have been made to this.
Now from devices connected to the home lan:
- Mac using Safari (http://domain) WORKS
- Mac using Safari (http://www.domain) FAILS
- PC (Windows 7) using Firefox or IE (http://domain) WORKS
- PC (Windows 7) using Firefox or IE (http://www.domain) FAILS
- PC (Windows 7) using Chrome (http://domain) WORKS
- PC (Windows 7) using Chrome (http://www.domain) WORKS
iPad cannot resolve the address www.domain from internal.
Funny thing is that if I use Mac using Safari (http://www.domain) FAILS but if I open a terminal and type curl http://www.domain it gets resolved and from that moment, and that session, Safari can reach it.
Doing a Wireshark trace when the connection fails don't show any traffic being generated.
Running the same test from an external network all these described combination work fine. So the issue seems to be constrain to the DNS resolution internal network and started after the upgrade of the connection.
Also from internal all other sites I have tried work fine.
Have you experienced something similar?
Thanks in advance

Re: Issue resolving names from home lan

Very interesting question and not unlike an issue which I am encountering.
I run a web service on my home network. When away from home I can access it on my ipad with http://username.plus.com however when at home this does not work. I have to use the IP address of the host computer.
UPDATE:  is this a problem you've had for a while and just got around to reporting?  As I wrote the above I went to check the details and I now find that it now works ok.  There have been a number changes made to the PN DNS servers in the last couple of days.  Is it possible that this is also now working correctly for you?

Re: Issue resolving names from home lan

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the feedback. The issue has been there since I upgrade the connection, July 2012. On and off I have been trying to get a picture of what's going on. When the upgrade was made the DNS selected were picked by the auto-install
Their values are:
{admin}=>:dns server route list
DNS Server Entries:
  DNS Server    Source                Label              Metric Intf        State  Domain
D 212.159.6.10                                            10    Internet      UP      *
D 212.159.6.9                                            10    Internet      UP      *
{admin}=>

but if I go to plus.net > Member Centre > Connection settings
shows

Other settings for manual connection
Primary DNS Server  212.159.13.49
Secondary DNS Server  212.159.13.50
Optional tertiary DNS server  212.159.6.9

I wonder if I select manual configuration will solve the problem. Have tried replacing the DNS by the one suggested on the Connection Settings but still the same issue.
