...

192.168.1.4 is a Windows 7 laptop - it does this whenever it's switched on.
No other PC does this - I have Windows XP, 3 Linuxes, a NAS and a Raspberry Pi connected (not all the time).
I'm not prepared to reload or reset anything on the grounds that it is too much work.  Cheesy

I'm not prepared to answer the question on the grounds that that is also too much work.

Re: Is this normal???

I wanted to preclude any bright sparks suggesting that I install new firmware or load Windows drivers or do factory resets to my router.

Re: Is this normal???

As it's you, Jeremy, I'll make an exception.  Have a look here http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=74104 .  This suggests it is a setting in Windows Media Player that you have set to share your media.  So the associated service keeps looking for something to share it with and this generates the router log entry.

Re: Is this normal???

Thanks - I think the blame lies not with Microsoft Media Player, but one of those new-fangled "social media" - in this case something called Tumblr [the misspelling is deliberate].
Apparently it's used for exchange of photos, videos and blog hosting.
I think I'll leave it alone.
Thanks ReedRichards!!
