Re: Is this a new (slow) record?

I think the fact that you guys are all getting ridiculously slow speeds from the BT Speedtester suggests that it's not playing ball...

Peter,
Blast - just when I was making room on the mantlepiece for the BT  'slowest throughput'  trophy' ...
Pipped in the post by just 1K !!!
Seriously, did you experience slow downloads or was it just the SpeedTester playing up I wonder?

Going by the non-BT Speedtest results you guys have posted, it looks like it's the BT one that's at fault.

It definately was the BT Speedtester that had died James.  Nothing untoward wrong with speed.

I was trying to state the obvious in a way that wouldn't be deemed pedantic Cheesy

Re: Is this a new (slow) record?

I think this settles it:
BT Speedtester is showing 457kbps
+Net's is showing nearly 4000kbps
Thinkbroadband's is showing about 3500kbps
So, I think BT's is cream-crackered. Perhaps it's all that Phorm stuff getting in the way... Grin
BTW, I can't help noticing that +Net's speedtester jumps up very sharply at the end of the download test, so that it adds another 5-10% to the final stated speed. Anyone know why? Huh

That's what I thought.  However it appeared to get back to normal today, BUT just did a test few minutes ago, and:-
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 4768 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 4000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6 kbps
My Broadband Speed reports:-
Today 21:08  3221 kbps (403kB/s)  286 kbps (35.8kB/s)
Whilst Namesco, which always gives me optimistic reports, say:-
3515 Download  309 Upload
However eBay is VERY slow again tonight - ah well there's always tomorrow...
