Is the doctor in?

Hats off to my Doctors surgery.
They have a fine website and you can order repeat prescriptions on line. All good for the last few months but I can't access it and haven been able to for a couple of days. They say their site is up but I get a broken link. Ive restarted my router to reconnect in case that was a problem.
Is it me or is it them

Re: Is the doctor in?

I just tried it...... got this
Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.humbleyardpractice.co.uk.
   *   Check the address for typing errors such as
         ww.example.com instead of
         www.example.com
   *   If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
         connection.
   *   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Re: Is the doctor in?

Yeah I can confirm the same.  Couldn't connect via Plusnet DNS , switched to openDNS and got there straight away

Any particular reason? I'm not alone in setting my primary DNS as Plusnet and secondary as OpenDNS. Can't remember having a DNS problem since.

Re: Is the doctor in?

The reason is ignorance.  Shocked
I assumed the best solution was to let the internet daddy at plusnet decide - hence ticking the box for let isp determine dns. Going your own way seemed wrong
What is the general view of the optimum dns set up then please?

Re: Is the doctor in?

If the DNS work to be carried out early on Thursday morning (Service Status) proves to be successful then the question should become academic.
One could say the optimum DNS set-up is one that works; for those more comfortable sticking with default DNS settings hopefully this work will ensure PN's servers meet that requirement.

Re: Is the doctor in?

FWIW - I don't think users should have to mess about selecting alternative DNS servers - ok many people here have the skill to do that - but I strongly suspect the huge bulk of customers do not.

Reason for not using OpenDNS? Mistype a URL and it lies!

Well here we are on Friday evening, and it doesn't work for me. This sounds like one for Bob Pullen to look into.

Re: Is the doctor in?

I have been getting that a lot recently with Firefox 3.5.5 but never with IE8.
Apparently there is a bug in Firefox 3.5 which can cause it.
It was so bad that I am presently using IE8 and I don't like it  Angry
