Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

Tried hooking up Plusnet router & same issue. Get an ADSL line but can't authenticate onto network - Authentication Failed......

Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

Finally back up.
Interestingly though, on checking the gateway I get
"Sorry, records show your IP address is not from the Plusnet brand and as such, we cannot detect your gateway."
Strange given I'm using the static IP I've had for nearly 2 years

@woodm
Hi, see my reply #41 just in case that helps.
@DaveyH
Try a tracert, something isn't quite 100% with usertools.

Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

The thing is, the figures of 45.09k for pcl-bng02 and 43.07k for pcl-bng03 haven't changed for a while, so they can't really be trusted. Ditto for ptw-bng01 at 68.95k.

I'm getting exactly the same thing on the gateway checker, also on a long-standing pn static ip.

Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

I was wondering the same ejs, but all the other figures have changed. pcl-ag01 dropped a small amount since the first capture but hasn't changed since.
see my previous post re gateway checker.

Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

Now it has authenticated but Internet still has a big red x next Tobit in connectivity check.

Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

Also the graph does not reflect the figures in the table - which is right - picture or raw figures?
ptw-bng01 / pcl-bng02 / plc-bng03 all show connected numbers, but the graph does not.
When I last looked the current total count was just 150.00k in the face of the status notice stating that most users were reconnected.  The previous figure for the total was just 598k - something well short of the estimated 750k PlusNet customers.  Something is not adding up!

Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

We have found inconsistencies in the total numbers before, not only at times like this.
I never saw a figure as low as 150K!

Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

@Davey32 & W23,
Having a static IP address has no relationship to which gateway you are connected to.  Some of the gateways are not known to the gateway checker in the user tools area.  It is on the known list of some things to do when there are no fires to put out...
Doing a pathping plus.net will identify the gateway for you...

Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

As I said in an earlier post here, a simple tracert to plus.net will do the same.

Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

The bandwidth usage graphs initially dipped but now have all risen - I think they might even all be higher than this time yesterday, perhaps they're all higher than usual for this time on a Saturday. The spike in bandwidth usage doesn't seem to fit with lots of customers being disconnected - I would have expected bandwidth usage to have fallen if many customers were offline.
Strangely there was also a dip in the bandwidth graphs for IPSC - but 20CN users don't connect to BNG gateways.

Thought i would give the PN Service Status Line (0800 917 6714,) a ring, After listening to the message ,that any open issues when be heard after the message, as i thought there was none.
What a great resources the Service Status Line , if only PN could be bothered to use/update it, Is there a reason why the issue is not on there PN?
Regards
Mike

This number is now going to have service effecting issues updated as and when required from today onwards.
I'll also try to get more visibility of this on our website.

What a complete joke once again PN, having rung the service status line , expecting to hear the announcement  regarding today's problem , once again as i thought NOTHING.
What is your excuse PN?
This is simple not good enough given the response above last time.
Regards
Mike
Edit: oops i have posted in the wrong thread, can a mod please move to most appropriate for today's issue

That explains that then.
Pathping (along with tracert / tracroute not available on this Android tablet), pc curently unpluged because I'm decorating, only knew there was an outage because the kids started moaning.  Wink

Re: Is Plusnet Down Again?

Not working here (Sydenham-LSSYD) on ADSL2+ connection. Power, Ethernet and DSL lights on the PlusNet router are UP but I'm getting a challenge-authentication failure every time.
Connectivity check shows RED X (Fail) on ATM and PPP and "No ATM activity detected on your DSL Line" so something is still broken.
Have cold-booted router, gone through set-up routine as posted to Service Update page etc. several times to no avail.

(piggybacking my laptop off my the 3G phone connection to post here - easier than using tiny phone browser & keypad!)
Major Service Outages on PlusNet are getting to be depressingly regular - might have to explore other options Sad
