Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Depends which model. Give this a good read before you do anthing -
http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.htm
Select your router model and follow the instructions. I don't know which page will have the "DSL Line up time", "On line time" or whatever your router calls it. The other details you want are ~ Sync Speed  (Connection Speed) ~ Attenuation (atten) ~ SNR Margin  (Noise Margin, Margin)  .
Best of luck.

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Well interestingly looking at my stats I've had 3 LOS's overnight in the wet and windy weather (roll on Silverstone!) but it's not affected my "online experience". Wink
(what's more annoying at present is the choppers going noisily overhead heading towards the GP  Crazy)

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Ignore the details of my LOS's, I'm not on a PN connection anyway.
The point was more that a LOS as such is not necessarily a problem, it's more what happens as a result e.g. a prolonged break before resync or a lower sync speed.
And LOS wouldn't be down to PN anyway as it's the sync between your router and BT equipment in the exchange.

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

I am still experiencing the faults.  Plusnet came back to me yesterday afternoon
and despite me having a proper BT twin plate with filter built in they wanted me
to go into the test socket, which I knew was a waste of time to me, but gains time for
PN.  Despite being in the test socket, I still being cut-off This is very frustrating.
Anyboy got any idea's or suggestions

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Testing in the Master test socket eliminates a potential problem with your twin-socket (which don't last forever and do break down).
If Plusnet didn't ask you to test, then called an engineer out who pinpointed that as the source of the problem, you would be landed with a bill for ~£169.  Then you would complain that Plusnet didn't advise you to try the master socket.
Now that you *have* tested in the master test socket, then it is more convincing that it is a BT problem and the likelihood of you being charged is minimal.

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Hi Barry
Thanks for that, I did not look at it the way you put it.
Plusnet were correct to ask me to test it even though I
thought it a waste of time and as you say it elements
the chance of it being a faulty filter

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

@Soulsville
From your router stats it would also appear that you're on a fixed 1meg line.  You could probably get more speed out of your line once your current problem has been resolved by asking to be moved to ADSLmax (it doesn't cost anything to be moved over).

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Indeed, with ADSL Max, and any problems fixed, you could be seeing speeds several times faster. Maybe up to 5 or 6mbps!
