Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

Hi, I've been experiencing painfully slow internet speeds for about two weeks now, making even most basic internet browsing operations really difficult.
It feels like I'm being throttled for no reason at all. Contacted BT and they said  the line was good at my end. Decided it was probably time for a new router, but it didn't help at all (swapped out filters too). Whether I use wired or wireless connection, the slow speeds problem still persists.
Makes streaming and gaming impossible.

Re: Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

Here are the diagnostic test results from the speed check.

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download  Speed
0.48 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.5 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.48 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.1 Mbps-0.5 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 0.5 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.33 Mbps

0 Mbps 0.45 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.33Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.45 Mbps

Mu current line speed is 12.8 Mb. I don't have an speed estimation though.
I also have a  TP-Link TD-W8968 Wireless N router, but its not listed in that help guide.

Re: Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

This should work
Access the router and after login select Status from the left hand menu and it is under DSL
Once we have that we can make some suggestions as to how to sort out the problem

Re: Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I tried using a different filter, (which didn't solve the issue) which explains the short up-time.

Re: Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

Pity you changed the filter as we can't see what your connection has been like
There are several things there
The upstream attenuation is high compared to the downstream
Your speed is horrible as you know and may be banded http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/broadband_terminology.shtml#bandedProfiles however your noise margin isn't very high so that may not be the case
Do you have a master socket with a removable lower faceplate
If so can you connect the router to the test socket

Re: Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

OK, curently connected via the test socket. Loading web pages still feels slow, though.

Re: Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

The line is currently banded which is causing the very low speeds.
This tells us a story

Re: Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

As I thought
Please leave the router in the test socket and see if the disconnections stop
If they do it is your internal wiring
If they don't you need to start the fault process

Re: Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

How long should I keep it in the test socket?
And since I've disconnected a couple of times already in the past half hour, its looking like a problem at my end?
Thanks

Re: Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

Nope I didn't do it manually. I just got the usual 'Limited Connectivity' error message.

Re: Internet slowed to a crawl past fortnight

in which case leave it in the test socket and raise a fault https://portal.plus.net/apps/kbdfaults
Do not raise a speed fault - it is a disconnections fault
