Internet light was red on 582n, now gone after power down

Hi all,
Internet went off for an hour this morning but i was at work so not sure what exactly happened.
But at the moment the internet light on my router turned red. Left it 5 minutes but no change. Powered off and on router, now no internet light. Powered off and on modem, still no internet light. Still in the training period, denton excange.

More info, if i disconnect and connect through the router's ews i get the red light then no light with the message "Connection could not be established, Concentrator not reachable".

could it be there has been a failure on your line or in your area?

Possibly mate, my area isnt listed as having any issues on the bt service status page though (although cabling has been stolen affecting many areas). Ive tried the reset pin button on the router...still no joy.

I have checked your area and can see no reported outages. As such I would recommend that you continue raising a fault report here: https://portal.plus.net/apps/kbdfaults for us to investigate this further for you.

Hi mate,
Good effort for replying so late. The update is that literally 3 minutes ago the green internet light has returned without me doing anything for about 30 minutes.
Any ideas? Faulty gateway? Hopefully interleaving doesn't get applied to my line after tonight.
I'll update the ticket to ask for it to remain open for 24 hours to monitor with it going off for an hour this morning also.

Hi MM,
We've seen a few instances where the internet light is red but the services are still working as normal, this isn't anything to be concerned about.
I can see that your line has had a few disconnections and last nights no connection;

As with the reports on noisy 582n's is there a case here for 'collecting' some of these devices experiencing "the red is light on but all's OK" syndrome for investigation?
If nothing else, has anyone looked at serial numbers of the reported units to see if they all come from the same production run?

The red internet light has appeared on my 582n, on a few occasions, quite randomly and for no apparent reason. Everything still works as normal though.
However, to get rid of the light I just carry out a "soft" disconnect and connect from within the router's broadband section. Smiley

Just to be clear in my case Chris, i actually lost connectivity. I could not browse wired or wireless with the red internet light. I then power cycled the router and did not get an internet light at all.
So this doesn't look to be the same situation as the one a few members have posted here where they have had a red internet light but could still browse etc.
I'll check my ticket, it's been fine today.

Ahhh OK, that is an actual authentication issues then.
I've book in the engineer appointment for you, this is tomorrow(14th) 8am-1pm. I've added the notes you requested although we cannot guarantee anything.

Thanks Chris. It shouldn't be chargeable as I've seen a 25% drop in up and down without any cabling being changed.

I'm just getting this chased up, it initially appears that further testing has deemed that your line is performing OK and your line has been cleared of any fault so it looks like no engineer will be attending today.
I'll update you ASAP.
