Internet dropped 6 times or more this afternoon....

I was wondering if there are any issues going on, I've checked the exchange which is listing as being fine (de14) but it's getting very poor today especially trying to use sky go, painful and missing no end of things. Whether wired or going wireless the issues seem to be there, it runs fine for a while and then drops out, sometimes taking 20 minutes or so to connect again. We went away for a week from 17/24th & had the router switched off for that period if that  counts for anything?

Can you post your router stats? Have you tried plugging into the test socket?

Re: Internet dropped 6 times or more this afternoon....

Can't get router stats to work on my laptop, it's pretty poor really. Test socket isn't in use, it's in the same one it's been in for the last 12 months although we did turn the telephone and router off for our holiday. There were odd outages before we went but the last day or two has got bad especially this afternoon. Wondering why there would be issues now after it being ok for a year for example, and wiring should be ok as it's a new build (we moved in when it was 2 months old)

dgn2000. I think it's more due to a crappy laptop  Grin
Stupid question. Our main socket is right opposite the thermostat & when the heating came in it dropped out not long aftert & stayed off until i rebooted the router 15 mins or so later with windows reporting no DNS found. Something in it or pure coincidence perhaps?

Re: Internet dropped 6 times or more this afternoon....

To see your Router Stats you first need to logon to your Router.
DGN2000 Default Password & Other Default Login Data
Version      Default Username      Default Password      Default IP
    All                admin                      password          192.168.0.1
I'm not familiar with your router but if you logon as above and follow the menus I'm sure you'll find some stats eventually.
Give it a go.  Smiley

Once logged on to your Netgear DGN2000 router, click Router Status on the left hand side, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Show Statistics"
There you will find your stats.

Re: Internet dropped 6 times or more this afternoon....

thanks. probably not a lot of help since my router has only been on 20 minutes today but these are what I have
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 8279 11318 0 1677 14925 00:13:27
LAN 10M/100M 12975 10592 0 11332 1840 00:18:40
WLAN 11M/54M/270M 0 0 0 0 0 00:18:29
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15896 kbps 1176 kbps
Line Attenuation 27.5 db 13.4 db
Noise Margin 6.4 db 6.3 db

Weird thing is that it can be fine for days on end and then really bad without warning before returning to being ok. Just irritating because I missed a good 30 minutes of the Madrid derby making it not worth resuming late on and meaning the data I'd used to watch it was in effect wasted, have to be very careful not to leave it on too long and go well over the 60gb  Grin
