Internet disconnections

I am suffering from periodic, repeated Internet disconnections. Not DSL disconnections, Internet disconnections. From the Technicolor router:

X Internet

   X Connectivity to IPv4 Gateway (172.16.11.141)

Disconnecting and reconnecting to the Internet doesn't work and I am forced to restart the router. Could this be related to the known Technicolor TG582n DNS 'problem'?
