Internet connection on an iMac

I’ve just had full fibre installed. My iPad, too, iPhone connect to the internet OK but I have a problem with my iMac. When I connect to the router it says I’m connected to broadband but I cannot connect to internet sites. Help

Do you have any Ethernet over power adapters in use?

Ah, right. System Preferences looks more like iOS in the newer macOS versions.

I’ve no idea if any of these work as my Mac is stuck on Catalina.

The problem seemed to be more speed and another post relating to 2.4GHz and 5GHz seems to explain the issue.
