Internet connection droppeing out when landline rings and answered.

Hi
When my landline rings and I answer the phone my internet connection drops out and reconnects when the phone is hung up.
What can cause this to happen, is it a line or exchange fault or a handset or modem fault ?

Have you got filters in all telephone extensions that are used for anything (not just the one with the router)?

Does it only drop out when the call is answered or does it drop out when the phone rings.
To check phone in from your mobile with and without the phone connected

It drops out when the line rings wether the phone is plugged in or not.
It does not need to be answered.

You've ruled out a handset fault.
Have you tried a different filter? If you have a different router you could try as well that would be brilliant.
If you have tried those it's most likely to be an exchange fault. You need to raise a fault at http://faults.plus.net/

I had exactly that problem and eventually it turned out to be mostly due to a problem at the exchange - but only mostly as now the exchange problem was fixed (moving from 20CN to 21CN) but it still happens occasionally.
You need to raise a broadband fault and you may be lucky and it gets fixed.
But before doing that please try a different filter and, if possible, a different router.
