I'm getting pages coming through malformed, sites not found, timeouts, etc.
Outlook express is having trouble connecting to newsgroup servers too.
Any ideas?

Is this still ongoing for you after a reboot? I've been having a look around and there weren't any LTS drops and although silver/bronze traffic did seem to take a downturn at about 12pm, it seems to be back to normal levels again.

If it continues I'll try rebooting the PC and router.

I decided to reboot the router to see if a different pipe was better.
Result was worse: originally on -thn-ag3 speed: 1492k (usually 5500k)
now on "unknown gateway" speed: 1307k.
I dont recollect being on this "unknown gateway" before, does anyone know anything about it ?
Can't they give it a name?
David. Location- Wrexham

There are two fixes:
To get you back onto the net you can alter the ZoneAlarm settings. Open ZoneAlarm, go to Firewall, Main and reduce the Internet Zone Security to Medium. That will get you online.
A proper fix until Microsoft pull their collective finger out is as follows: Open 'Add or Remove Programs' in the Control Panel. Remember to check the box marked 'Show Updates'. Then scroll down the list until you see the MS Update KB951748.
Remove this and you can re-set your Internet Zone Security setting to maximum.
Then change your Microsoft Security update settings to 'Notify Before Update'. You should have it set to this as default anyway considering the problems that have been associated with MS updates. If in doubt do a Google search before downloading and installing any MS updates.
You'll probably get another prompt from Microsoft asking you to re-install KB951748 but don't do it.
MS are apparently on the case but until a better security update is available beware!

It seems that it had "nobbled" my internet access,I originally overcame it by doing a System Restore to a couple of days back.
I can now deal with it properly.
Thanks again.
