Re: Internet Pages Redirecting to http://62.6.38.125/index.html

Hi, just had a look for you and the engineer's notes are saying he couldn't get access to the equipment he needed to install the service? Just wondering if that's what happened from your point of view as well. Unfortunately the order's closed so we'll see what we can do about getting a fault raised (and escalated, given the order's now been closed off incorrectly by our suppliers) but knowing your side of the story would help.

Please tell me that you're also escalating a complaint with BTO that they closed an incomplete order!

Hi thanks for taking a look at that,
But if that's what he said that was a complete lie on his part (either that or he lied to me on his visit) as he told me he'd done everything his responsibility covered - ensuring the line from my flat to the cabinet was working properly. He did not mention any lack of access or equipment and told me that the problem was that plusnet hadn't activated my service.

Do you have any idea what the explanation would be for a discrepancy like this? I'm really anxious to get a solution to this as it's bad enough that I missed two whole weeks of my degree staying in for missed engineer appointments but the ongoing problem is preventing me revising for impending exams

No concrete one, but in all honesty I think it's that he wanted to get out of there and didn't want you to blame him for leaving without the service working. As I said we'll get it chased up for you.

Re: Internet Pages Redirecting to http://62.6.38.125/index.html

I had an engineer out today who said he believes the problem is that the previous engineer hooked me up to the wrong VDSL port in the cabinet as when he restarted my line, there was no drop on his testing equipment. However he can't gain access to the cabinet as the estate office is refusing all bt engineers access. I'm on the verge of tearing my hair out with frustration here - how can they do this? Surely it's BT open reach property?

Re: Internet Pages Redirecting to http://62.6.38.125/index.html

It is their property and unless there is a very good reason (like for Health & Safety reasons) that access is being prevented, Openreach should be kicking up a big fuss.
Where is the cabinet located?

Re: Internet Pages Redirecting to http://62.6.38.125/index.html

No health and safety reason - from what I can gather the office is basically boycotting BT in response to some form of problem between an engineer and one of their members of staff on tuesday night. The cabinet is located on the ground floor on the outside of my flat building as far as I can tell, so there is street access. It seems ridiculous, my block of flats has poor mobile phone signal and there are a lot of frail vulnerable people living here, if their phone line is down and my estate office refuses to allow it to be fixed, they have no way of calling emergency services!!

Hi, the cabinet itself will be BT property but if it's on private land it's down to the landlord I'm afraid - you'd need to take it up with him/her though we can try and ask BTOR to do the same (I'll see if we can do this) - but even if they will I'd still strongly recommend talking to the landlord directly.

Thanks, I am talking to the office now, but I feel that all they want is an apology or something for BT, sadly openreach won't deal with me so it'd be great if you could get onto them  Undecided

Your local paper may be interested?  Especially if the accusation against BT by your landlord is warranted Smiley

Re: Internet Pages Redirecting to http://62.6.38.125/index.html

There will be an agreement between Openreach and the land/estate owner granting them full access rights to the cabinet. The Estate Manager cannot refuse access on the grounds of a dispute between an engineer/member of their staff.
Openreach need access the the cabinet - they are expensive bits of kits and need maintenance, not to mention they need access to connect users/rectify faults. There is also a Health & Safety aspect as they carry quite a large amount of voltage - if anything should happen and Openreach were prevented access, the Estate Management company could be held liable.
