Re: Intermittent Internet Service

These are "clean" steps in the SNRM, not something I would associate with a bad connection, it is very definitely like something is switching.
The Connection Chart that Jojo posted a while back showed a definite pattern of these occurring in the morning, with only an odd one on 2 or 3 evenings at different times.
On the subject of the wireless, as you aren't using it can you turn it off, I'll send you PM.

Re: Intermittent Internet Service

Right here goes!
RSL active from @0756hrs and still running
When I started RSL this morning we were 6 to 6.5 SNR for almost an hour.
@0817 Router re-synced down from 1056 to 960Kbps
@0843 big single step up to 8.5 SNR
@1345 big single step up to 11 SNR
@1605  For 15 mins  a series of steps in quick succession bringing SNR down to what we are now at 6.5 (and now 'live' flirting with 6)
See 'compacted' RSL  SNR data graph (can supply expanded with more detail if needed - Chris)
The jumps do seem to be sort of 'clean(ish) jumps'. @ Chris regarding our heating, this is still on constant from the winter! (I feel the cold). All day and night long it goes on and off  all the time.....which would not correspond to the times of day when RSL shows the SNR flatlined (ie yesterday afternoon/evening). I have been round the house (literally) and there is nothing that has come on which even remotely corresponds to the graphed jumps. When the jump at @1345 happened....there was no-one at all at home.

Re: Intermittent Internet Service

Just checked the RSL stats again.
there has been another SNR 'wibblewobble'
This graph slightly overlaps the previous , but you can clearly see the suden step up and down between approx 1849 and 1905hrs.
SNR was flat at 6.5 then up to 9.5 for these 15 mins then back to 6.5.
This latest peak is quite uniform though. The SNR wobbles a little bit before it rockets up then just after the SNR rockets back down the SNR again, wobbles a little bit. Can anything be interpreted from this?

Chris - I forgot to tell you that I collect electric 'stepper' motors and have numerous ones in the garage which I play with!  This IS a joke! Crazy

Re: Intermittent Internet Service

I've been looking at all the recent data again Alex, and there are several mysterious inconsistencies which have no logical explanation.
I'll check again to see if I've overlooked anything and drop you another PM.
Edit: Do you recall if the pattern was similar with the Linksys modem/router - Note I'm Not suggesting you try it again

Re: Intermittent Internet Service

As RSL has been running for more than 24 hours continuously, I thought I would post a snap shot of 24 hours starting when I started RSL yesterday morning. It is not quite the full 24 hours as RSL will only allow a value up to 10,000 for points per page.
Although you can't see fine detail, it shows a general 24 hour pattern. I can of course replicate much finer detailed graphs if needed for the stored data within the  RSL saving file.

Re: Intermittent Internet Service

Has it been steady all morning or have you seen jumps similar to before?

Re: Intermittent Internet Service

See attached compacted graph for today since the small hours......
SNRM seems a little more stable when it is hanging around the 9 level?
Not so much what I would call 'wild jumping'.
Or is it that my 'problems' have the day off on a Bank Holiday like everyone else?  Grin

Re: Intermittent Internet Service

On the other hand, as the daytime jumping around seems worse than previously, it could be to do with everyone else having the bank holiday weekend off  Lips_are_sealed

Re: Intermittent Internet Service

what would an 'ideal' SNRM graph look like in an ideal world, would it be totally flatlined?

Re: Intermittent Internet Service

In a perfect situation the SNRM graph would be perfectly flat. In the real world a +/- 0.1dB variation in daytime would be extremely good, similar at night would be excellent, but not that common.

Re: Intermittent Internet Service

Well that is much much better  Smiley but now the big question is what sync speed have you got?  Wink
