Insufficient bandwidth to stream BBC radio??

I've been having problems with the 128Kbps live stream of BBC radio.  Lots of disconnects, buffering interruptions, etc.  Now I've just had an error message on a Listen Again programme saying "Insufficient bandwith to play this programme".  My connection speed is currently 5696Kbps.  Is this another problem with traffic-shaping? A problem with the BBC? Or what is going on?
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Chris

Re: Insufficient bandwidth to stream BBC radio??

I was watching iPlayer earlier on in HD without any problems. Might be worth you doing a Wireshark capture to see how the traffic's being classified.
Would also be interesting to know what gateway you're connected to?

Re: Insufficient bandwidth to stream BBC radio??

Thanks Bob.  I'm on ptn-ag1 this session, but I've had the problem off and on for several days and maybe not always via the same gateway.  It's got late -- I'll do a wireshark tomorrow if the problem persists.

Re: Insufficient bandwidth to stream BBC radio??

Have you had problems with your connection dropping at all?
It might be that you have had a low sych which lowered your profile.
What does a BT speed test say? http://speedtester.bt.com/

Re: Insufficient bandwidth to stream BBC radio??

I've had an occassional connection drop, but I don't think it's affected my profile. BT Speedtester gives:
DSL connection rate 5824 Kbps (down), 448 Kbps (up)
IP profile 4500 Kbps
Actual IP throughput at test 4179 Kbps.
This looks normal for my line.  I'm going to try and do a wireshark capture.
Thanks

Re: Insufficient bandwidth to stream BBC radio??

The wireshark showed the BBC live stream as Gold 0x80, so no problem there. I've been listening for about half an hour and (as I type this!) I'm getting a second drop-out.  The loss of service lasts for about a minute, with nothing to say what is happening.  The Media Player statistics say the bandwidth in use is 128.7 Kbps, and the bandwidth available is 113.7 Kbps (sic)??  It also says the Quality (15s average) is 100%  (I just can't hear anything!).
This is very strange and annoying, but at the moment I'm blaming the BBC.
