Installation of phpbb

For a non-techy person like me this has been a nightmare!  I have got to the page where you install the phpbb and put in the database name and password but it just says phpBB : Critical Error Could not connect to the database.
F9 say there is a misconfiguration on the MySQL settings you have entered. 
I have left everything as it comes up, MySQL3x and as local host.  Do you change the domain name too?

Hi Thanks for helping.  I have switched on the MySQL and that tutorial was the one I was following but gives no help at that page unfortunately...Aaaagh!

Host needs to be rumpus or humbug as detailed in the MySQL activation email you should have received. You also use the MySQL login & password given in the email, not your plusnet portal ones in case that is what you did.
Dd you specify the database name which will be <username>_<visp> e.g. fredboggs_pn for plusnet
