Re: Instability of 21CN and ADSL2+

Well, things seem a hell of a lot more stable now.  Since reverting to my normal setup after the engineer vist (XTE faceplate, and high quality RJ11), just had one resync, and no odd PPP disconnections.  One question I have is, whats classed as a normal amount of resyncs.  I realise this is a ' 'how long is a piece of string' question,  but why do connections resync randomly???  At the mo, everytime I look at my margin, its around 6dB, although its 3.5 at the min, so I expect a resync later on tonight.....    DO phone lines suffer from occ noise spikes/ other stuff to cause a resync.  Just wondered????Huh

Standard is the standard DLM.
Stable is the DLM being more aggressive to find a stable service without disconnections.
Superstable is more aggressive.
We're actually looking for some trialists to test the latter two.  It may result in slower speeds, but gives more of a guarantee of stability on noisey lines.

Do you have a Sub-Standard option that would let my very stable line go a bit faster? Smiley
I've never seen my sync speed change - except on a resync Smiley

Sorry - No.
Stable is the lowest option I have available.

Re: Instability of 21CN and ADSL2+

I wish I knew what was "Normal" with ADSL2+. My sync speed has been up and down like the proverbial yo yo since I switched. Its been anything from around 10 meg to 15 meg with around 12 being the most stable. It seems to settle down for a week or so and the profile improves then the yo yo starts again. Having kept note of the sync speeds they have never been the same twice. The trouble is I don't know if this "Normal", if there is a problem or even if I'm seeing the correct speed for my line with 24.5 Attenuation

Re: Instability of 21CN and ADSL2+

Well, just a final update now......  All seems fine since the BT engineer vist. Just has 2 resyncs since then.  Moved evrything back to the orig setup, with a filtered faceplate, and Shielded Rj11 cable, direct to router.  Currently running everything via wireless at the min, but intent to move to HomePlug, with a Homeplug next to the router, and another in the airing cupboard(now empty), to a switch, so I can use my fitted Network sockets upstairs.  Current Stats...
Link Information

Uptime: 7 days, 8:29:23
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1.067 / 7.623
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 65,24 / 327,21
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 13,0 / 0,0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 24,0 / 44,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 5,0 / 4,5
Seems pretty stable, lets hope it continues.  Would be interested to know exactly what BT did, as the engineer notes are a little thin, according to PN.  Also, as an aside, on ADSL2+, when there is a profile change, does the PPP session automatically drop. Had 2 PPP drops, that appear to conincide with a profile change.
