Incoming email delays

You say that very few customers are continuing to experience delays - I am one of them. I have had problems for the last few days. I use Mailwasher to safely download emails into Outlook as it allows you to preview the messages on the mail server prior to downloading. I have particular problems downloading from virgin.net accounts. Can you advise when the problem will be finally fixed?

Re: Incoming email delays

Hi there,
If you post a full header of an affected email, we'll be able to see where the email is being delayed.

Re: Incoming email delays

I would post a message header if I could get one to download. I just keep getting a timeout on the Mailwasher process tonight. I will keep trying!

Re: Incoming email delays

Hi,
Are you able to disable mailwasher to see if it makes any difference in downloading the emails?

Re: Incoming email delays

Unfortunately no. But I am still receiving mail from my plusnet accounts through mailwasher without problems.

Re: Incoming email delays

doesn't sound like it's anything to do with the mail delays then. Do Virgin have a webmail client you could check? Might be that there's a troublesome email that Mailwashers struggling with but you might be able to delete this using Virgin's webmail client if they have one.
Let me know if they don't as I've another way you could delete the first message that's trying to download.

I have now received the virgin.net emails from today and have managed to obtain a full message header, which is shown below but with email addresses depersonalised

It also took quite a time to download, much longer than the plusnet messages. I have not had any problems like this until the you experienced the problems with delays on incoming email through the plusnet servers, so logically it does appear to be the source of the problem. I cannot see any pattern in the virgin.net emails, they are no different from those I normally receive without problems

Re: Incoming email delays

Hi there.
If that is the full header it doesnt appear to have even touched our mail platform and is therefore not caused by us.
I take it you have more than one email account active in your mail client?

Re: Incoming email delays

That doesn't really explain why I am having problems. Yes I do have other active mail accounts but my broadband connection is provide through plusnet and these problems coincide with the email delay problems you have posted on the plusnet website.

Re: Incoming email delays

Hi there.
Your issue is caused by the provider of the email account which that email was routed through. It was not processed by our email platform nor did it even get near ours. The fact that some customers are reporting email delays is purely co-incidental with your issue.
The delays being reported only effect some email going through our mail platform. Yours didnt even come close to ours.
The fact that it came down the broadband connection provided by us has nothing to do with the delay.
Had it been processed by us the header would have looked something like this
