If you post a full header of an affected email, we'll be able to see where the email is being delayed.

Are you able to disable mailwasher to see if it makes any difference in downloading the emails?

Let me know if they don't as I've another way you could delete the first message that's trying to download.

It also took quite a time to download, much longer than the plusnet messages. I have not had any problems like this until the you experienced the problems with delays on incoming email through the plusnet servers, so logically it does appear to be the source of the problem. I cannot see any pattern in the virgin.net emails, they are no different from those I normally receive without problems

If that is the full header it doesnt appear to have even touched our mail platform and is therefore not caused by us.
I take it you have more than one email account active in your mail client?

Your issue is caused by the provider of the email account which that email was routed through. It was not processed by our email platform nor did it even get near ours. The fact that some customers are reporting email delays is purely co-incidental with your issue.
The delays being reported only effect some email going through our mail platform. Yours didnt even come close to ours.
The fact that it came down the broadband connection provided by us has nothing to do with the delay.
Had it been processed by us the header would have looked something like this
