Re: Improved Speed Desired

Quote from: Jameseh
Didn't Jeremy (axisofevil) have a way of getting it to stick to 6dB even when reboots were being performed?
Sorry searched all his posts and could not find what you were referring to 😞
Setting the SNRM slider in DMT to 10% got me the 9.8dB I have now, down from the 15dB I had earlier.
I am still stuck at 4.2Mbps even with
                        Downstream  Upstream
Line Rate           7168 Kbps 448 Kbps
Noise Margin       9.8 dB      23.0 dB
I guess I will just have to sit tight and wait for BT to increase the speed.  Resyncing with DMT did not improve things and I have no other leads to get my downstream increased above 4.2Mbps now the line is stable.

Re: Improved Speed Desired

It is a case of sit tight I'm afraid, pop to the High-Speed BB page (login needed) in a day or 2 to see how it's going, or if you get bored try running the BT Speedtester Roll_eyes
Just watch out for those power dips/cuts Sad
Good Luck.

Re: Improved Speed Desired

Following a PM from Jameseh I have requested 6dB seeing the system could sustain 9+dB SNRM with 6.2Mbps previously.  Watch this space Cheesy
As previously noted the reliabilty of BT External Plant is the problem with providing reliable High Speed Broadband.

Speed results show the increase in speed as a result of the 3days after which I foolishly rebooted thinking it would kick it into higher speed.  As it was it droped down to its end July speeds so I reset it using DMT tool again.

Re: Improved Speed Desired

Just to keep you up to date.
I just did a speedtest and it had jumped up from 4.2Mbps to 5.5Mbps, the IP Profile seems to edge upwards once the situation has stabilised. details :
Voyager 2110 results :-

Re: Improved Speed Desired

You wouldn't have to wait 'another 3 days' as you put it, the timing is related to your time synced at the increased rate. I see your Target SNRM reset is not through yet.

Just had a look

something happend about 15.10 (Line Up Time updated) since I checked around at 14.40 and the stats were:

Does anyone know what the "Line Up Count " means since it increased from 10 to 11 over the same period ?  I am quietly annoyed with myself for not noticing this figure earlier.  I was concentrating on the other data which appeared to be more relevant  Embarrassed
thanks

Re: Improved Speed Desired

Your connection probably resync'd after the noise margin change happened.

Re: Improved Speed Desired

The Line Up Count is the number of times you've synced since the last time you powered up the router, so if it goes up you lost sync at some point and as James has said this would be most likely when your SNRM was reset. You are better off keeping an eye on your router stats and not worrying about BT speed tester results unless something seems amiss. You can check your profile in the member centre and check throughput with the PN speed tester if you need.
Regards.

Re: Improved Speed Desired

I've also been thinking about asking for my target SNR to be decreased, i allways used to be a 6 db SNR(back when we only had 2MB ADSL) had to raise it because the connection went abit squiffy after a holidy resulting in not being able to syn at all... eventually changed the router and saw a huge increase in sync speed... just wondering if the 12db taret i have now could be lowered and if there'd be much of an increase... right now i sit at 4000-4500 but my line profile is only able to hit 3500(according to the high speed broadband tool) so i'd need atleast 4500+ constantly to get an increase to 4000 Kbps on my line. should i just raise a ticket?
