Any reason why our IP profile might have dropped from 4Mb via 2Mb to currently 0.5Mb in the past 7 days? I have rebooted the router a couple of times after it went to 2Mb but never more than once in a 24hr period, is that still too often to upset DLM?
Also didn't reboot it at all before it dropped initially from 4Mb to 2Mb...
PSTN line sounds clean, no noise...
Fixed! Go to the fix.

Your line dropped a fair bit Monday to Tuesday, and that seems to be when the profile dropped to 500.

Many thanks for your prompt help Chris. IP profile now back to 4Mb and speedtest.net giving me 3.86Mb down & 0.39Mb up, which is almost exactly back where we normally sit (and perfectly decent out in the sticks on a long bit of copper!) 🙂
Have to say the ability to contact my ISP's tech support via this forum method is excellent... Thanks again!

No problem. Don't forget to mark as fixed if your issue is sorted.

What was the actual issue? The KBD data showed a synch rate of 672k, hence the 0.5meg profile, but I was wondering how that came about. Temporary noise issue for example, which would explain the 31dB noise margin?

Not sure to be honest - we hadn't experienced any problem with our line or our broadband reliability until the drop to 2Mb line profile (just about liveable with) then 0.5Mb (pretty much unusable!)
Following the return to 4Mb profile yesterday after Chris' intervention, it has now dropped to 2Mb again this afternoon! 😞 Chris, can you offer any further advice?!

Just an update, our PSTN line went faulty today (loud buzzing on the line, no dial tone, incoming calls go straight to Call Minder) coupled with a return to painfully slow broadband speeds (0.13Mbps!!!) Line reported as faulty to Plus Net call centre and they are handing it out to Openreach for a fix. I guess this is probably related to our initial intermittent problem with broadband speeds last week...

It's very likely that the PSTN fault is causing your broadband issues, once that's fixed hopefully your broadband will be performing better (we may need to reset the line following the phone line being fixed).

Hi Chris,
Openreach have now fixed our faulty PSTN line (no buzzing noise etc any more). Our IP profile has increased from 0.5Mb to 2Mb - does it need to be manually reset back up to 4Mb again (where it normally sits) or will it sort itself out in due course?

I've tried to put an SNR reset through, which is showing as successful. These can take a few hours to completely work though, so let me know if you don't see an improvement by tomorrow.

Thanks Chris, IP profile currently 1.25Mb although we had a brief power cut this afternoon which may not have been particularly helpful! Will keep an eye on it over the next day or two and report back...

Since Openreach fixed our faulty line on 10th June, our IP profile seems to be stubbornly stuck on 1.5Mbps, despite a sync speed of over 4Mbps. Before the line fault we were consistently getting actual usable speeds of around 4Mbps.
BT wholesale speedtest results:
"Download speed achieved during the test was - 1.53 Mbps
Your DSL Connection Rate :4.35 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1.5 Mbps"
Is there anything which can be done to get us back to the speed we used to enjoy pre-fault?
Is it possible the Openreach line fix wasn't up to scratch, or is there something else going on?!
Their fault fix notes were: "Main Fault Location: LN (Fault located in local network) Fault Code: NSY (Noisy) Clear Code: 82.2 Clear Message: In Joint AreaCable (Underground)"

Is there *anything* which can be done about our IP profile being stuck at a low figure? Line sync 4.38Mbps tonight yet IP profile stuck at 1.75Mbps. Has been like this since Openreach fixed our line fault a few weeks ago.
The difference between 1.5Mb and 4Mb "broadband" might not sound a lot, but it is the difference between reliable video streaming or not!
Picked up one bar of EE 4G signal in our village earlier this week, so have bought a Huawei B593s-22 router and external antenna to try out as a test. EE's 32Gb for £28 a month data SIM might just tempt me away from crappy copper if it can work reliably!
